prompting part XXIII

All new prompts go on Part XXIV
Prompts from this post can be filled on the Overflow Post

IMPORTANT! Spoilers for aired episodes are now being allowed on this area of the meme, without warning. If you do not want to encounter spoilers, please prompt at our Spoiler-Free Prompt Post.

GENERAL GUIDELINES
+Anon posting is most definitely allowed, but not required.
+All kinds of fills are accepted! Fic, art, vids, cosplay, interpretive dance--whatever. Go wild! :D
+Keep things neat! Read prompts before you post to see if something similar has already been done, and while you are encouraged to prompt as much as you like, try to fill as well.
+Please do not re-post prompts unless the last time they were prompted was on an older part. Simply put: ONE posting of each prompt per part.
+RPF (real person fic, i.e. fic involving the actors themselves) is not supported at this meme.
+Depending on the rate of activity, there may or may not be a prompt freeze when a part reaches 2000 and 4500 comments.
+However, there will be one when it reaches 7000. Also at 7000, after the freeze a new part will be posted, and all prompting should happen on the new part.
+Multiple fills are encouraged! :) Just because a prompt has already been claimed or written by someone, do not be afraid to offer up a second fill.
+re: hijacking.

Please refrain from hijacking a prompt. Hijacking may be defined as responding to a prompt by taking a portion of it and adding your own ideas about what should be added, changed or eliminated. In addition, commenting with off topic jokes or chatter.

By hijacking, the focus of the prompt can be lost, and inappropriate threads created. By doing this fillers may be discouraged which is something no one wants to experience.

If a prompt leads you to an original idea, please create your own prompt. The chatter or love posts are the proper places to share jokes or talk about prompts that have inspired you.
(prepared by anonymous)

THE FILLED PROMPTS POST
Put links to your fills here. There are instructions on the actual post. I ask that if the part you wanted isn't up yet, just wait and one of the archivists will get to it, but please, once it is up, please make sure you post your fills there according to the guidelines. DO NOT skip out on doing this because it seems like too much effort.
Do not be afraid to ask questions about how it works if you are confused! The mods would be happy to explain.

CONTACTING MODS
Your mods for this meme are [livejournal.com profile] snowishness, [livejournal.com profile] marill_chan and [livejournal.com profile] ellie_hell. If you have any questions, concerns, comments about anything at all on the meme feel free to send a PM or contact us via the Page-A-Mod post.

WARNINGS/OFFENSIVE WORDING IN PROMPTS
Please consider warning for triggery prompts (and also for fills, because some people read in flat view) and phrasing prompts in a manner that strives to be respectful.

Things which you might want to consider warning for include: Rape/Non-Con, Death, Suicidal Thoughts, Self-Harm, Underage Relationships, among others.

That being said, this is a kink meme. As such, there will be prompts that could offend you in a number of different ways. Not every prompt will have a trigger warning, and not every prompt will rub you the right way. If you have an issue with a specific prompt, feel free to bring it up in a discussion that takes place off the meme. However, flaming will not be tolerated regardless of origin.
You are highly encouraged to scroll right past a prompt that you dislike.

Remember, guys; Be civil, be friendly, but don’t be shy!

John needs an intervention

(Anonymous) 2012-01-05 03:47 pm (UTC)(link)
One day a pretty black drives up and John, with hardly any prompting from a complete stranger, gets in.

The car then drives him some place where Sherlock, Mrs. Hudson, Lestrade, and Molly are waiting for him. They think he needs an intervention.

"John, this has to stop. This willingly getting into cars with total strangers. It's not safe. You've got a problem, and we're here to help."

Bonus for John being like "But what if Mycroft-?" and someone else being like "He can phone you. On your phone."

A Scandal in Buckingham (Palace)...

(Anonymous) 2012-01-05 03:49 pm (UTC)(link)
The Queen gets tired of waiting for her interview with Mr Holmes and Dr Watson. Sherlock is determined to prove he can out-stubborn his brother any day of the week. The meeting goes ahead with Sherlock naked - neither he nor the Queen blink an eyelash at the unusual situation, because they're just that awesome... Mycroft on the other hand is twitchy, his "friend" Harry is about one tic short of a coronary, and John is doing his damnedest to revert to his army trained poker face because he knows if he meets anyone's eyes he won't be able to stop giggling.

Discworld/Sherlock crossover ideas

[identity profile] aisis1.livejournal.com 2012-01-05 04:00 pm (UTC)(link)
We have a ton of Harry Potter and Doctor Who crossovers, but it's funny how few stories dare to step into the Discworld universe. I would write one myself, but it's highly doubtful it would be any good. So, here I am throwing the ideas to the crowd and see if something comes out of it. Run along with it if you can!

Really, the universes would melt together rather nicely. I can see it before my inner mind's eye: The Patrician and Mycroft hawing a cup of tea over a game of Thud, Mycroft commenting on how easier it would be to rule the government, if he also could use pits of scorpions.

Lestrade and Vimes would be bonding over troublesome subordinates and their shared belief, that even having to deal with vampires is better than having a certain Holmes of a bloodsucker hanging on your neck. (Sherlock would be driving Vimes insane from the first instant they meet.)

Sherlock would be running around the city worse then a child on Christmas morning, all sparkly eyed and hyperactive. John would get along with Carrot in an instant (both of them the puppy type after all) and chasing after Sherlock and trying to keep him as far as possible from Igor (Who knows what the man would do with all the spare body parts otherwise!) and simultaneously from the Guild of Alchemists, if only to not make it blow up even more often then it usually does.

And just imagine the meeting of Jim and Teatime or even more interestingly, with Carcer. Do I see some best palls forever developing here?

*sigh* So many possibilities. I wish I could write it, because then I would be at it right away. Since I can't, please, someone do.

"Never attribute to malice," etc

(Anonymous) 2012-01-05 04:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I actually thought Sherlock was trying to be encouraging to Molly in the Christmas scene - I mean, granted, it all went horribly and humiliatingly wrong (for both of them), but I really thought he seemed to be trying to show her off to the other guests as a distraction from his own worries. A "Look, Molly's got a boyfriend, and she's over Jim, isn't she doing well!" and "Molly's dressed up a lot so she can go to a more swanky party after this one!" sort of thing.

Can we have one of the characters (Sherlock, Lestrade, John, Mrs Hudson, or maybe even Molly) musing privately about why it is that Sherlock persistently misses all of Molly's social cues when he's so good at catching everyone else's clues. No Sherlock/Molly requital though, please.

Re: "Never attribute to malice," etc

[identity profile] prettyarbitrary.livejournal.com 2012-01-05 07:25 pm (UTC)(link)
It did seem to me like he was trying to tease her, but in a companionable way. Like, "Hey, Molly, congratulations on your new boyfriend!"

The 'small mouth/small breasts' thing is not so cool, but then it's not news that Sherlock's an ass even when he's not trying to be. (Also apparently he's blind, because she looked fantastic in that getup.)

In which Sherlock and Irene are equals and their enemy is Moriarty!

(Anonymous) 2012-01-05 04:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Irene's an independent, BAMFy woman with a excellent career and an excellent reputation. She has no need of working for terrorists or criminals of any sort. Except when her partner Kate (Norton)'s life is being threatened by Moriarty.

Intended as a fix-it for the following issues I had:
-- Just because she's a domme doesn't mean she's dodgy
-- Why would she work for Moriarty (and the terrorists)?
-- Why would a Sherlock who prides himself on not caring, help her even after she humiliated and betrayed him? And how did he leave the country without Mycroft and John knowing?

(Bonus for Irene managing to get a covert help request to Sherlock fairly early on and the infatuation and plane code fiasco being all part of a freeform improvisation in which Sherlock and Irene are working from each other's cues. Double bonus for the execution rescue/fakery being the last stage of a plan that an equally bad-ass Irene, Sherlock and John have been working on as a group, in order to get Irene and Kate properly free of Moriarty's - and also Mycroft's - reach.)

Coercive non-con/dub-con I/S

(Anonymous) 2012-01-05 04:14 pm (UTC)(link)
"I would have you, right here on this desk, until you begged for mercy twice."

Non-con (though no violence) Sherlock/Irene. Because it's still non-con if you're pressured into it as some part of a one-upmanship game, and you're still left feeling shitty and small afterwards when they've finally left.

Asexual or demisexual Sherlock/John, with Sherlock unable to reconcile the fact that he *is* bothered by Irene's actions when he feels it shouldn't matter, and John putting the pieces back together and reassuring Sherlock that the way he naturally wants to act is perfectly reasonable and fine, and it's perfectly rational to be upset by someone removing your control over your own body.

Shamed Online

[identity profile] violetalvalunar.livejournal.com 2012-01-05 04:25 pm (UTC)(link)
John writes a fan fiction for a well known fandom, pairing any two character's together, one being from the fandom and the other being his own OC(fandom and pairing is up to author.) only for it be flamed and their comments end up making him take the story and his account down in shame.

A few months later with prompting from Sherlock and having revised and had Sherlock beta it, he sets up a new account and puts the newly revised version onto the site.

His story is then praised highly, is alerted and favorited by hundreds maybe even thousands. He has the most reviews ever seen in this particular fandom. The best thing about it all? The people who once flamed him are now his most relevant reviewers.

Re: Shamed Online

[identity profile] natgel.livejournal.com 2012-01-07 02:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh, something like that happened to someone I Beta'd for a few years back.
They were not native English speakers, and their grasp on grammar weak at best, but they were REALLY prolific and had some great idea. So once the language issues were sorted, they started getting heaps of praise where before they were flamed really badly.

The hunter, the tiger, and the snake, Moran/Moriarty

(Anonymous) 2012-01-05 05:24 pm (UTC)(link)
There is a Cambodian tale my father used to tell me about a hunter, a tiger, and a heartless queen.

A long time ago there was a hunter like no others - he was so strong and so fast that even the most dangerous beasts of the forest feared his shadow. One day, he decides to prove his strength again and claims that he is going to kill the King Tiger, an ancient creature the size of an elephant. He goes with his spear deep into the forest to reach the tiger's lair, and sees that it is sleeping. However before he can even strike the King Tiger wakes up and breaks his spear with one paw, leaving the hunter at his mercy. Instead of killing him, King Tiger decides to curse him with immortality : the hunter is condemned to live forever without love nor glory. The only way to break the curse is to gain the heart of the heartless queen , who is yet to be born.
After serving as a soldier for fifty seasons, the hunter finally meets the heartless queen- he becomes the queen's hunter and personal servant , falling desperately in love with her. The queen does not love him back and the hunter realizes that he has been tricked by the King Tiger, for a heartless queen cannot possibly give her heart to a loveless hunter.
The story is quite long, but after many adventures the hunter finds out that the queen has been cursed herself at birth by a snake : her heart has been changed into a pearl that the snake has swallowed to become a dragon. After a long fight he manages to take the pearl from the dragon, which -now a snake- bites him with poisoned fangs. Being immortal , he returns to the castle unharmed and gives the pearl to the queen. She cries and professes her love to him, freeing him from the curse. But as the poison of the snake is still in him, the hunter dies six days after. Heartbroken, the queen dies with him. They are reborn as a tiger and a snake.

I thought this could be a good Moran/Moriarty prompt, with Moran as the hunter and Moriarty as the heartless queen : Moran was born at the same time as ACD!Moran and meets a tiger in India which curses him the same way as King Tiger. Then he meets Jim.
Whether they die or not is up to you. I just would like to see a fic based of this tale.

Sherlock is sensitive about the popularity of his website versus the readership of John's blog and sulks massively after John says no one reads the Science of Deduction. John honestly didn't realize it meant so much to him and tries to make it up to him by linking to his "infinitely more factual" write-ups of their cases at the end of his own. It doesn't necessarily make SoD more popular but it does show that he values Sherlock's online efforts, too.

Moriarty/Mycroft

(Anonymous) 2012-01-05 06:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Lima syndrome.

Moriarty kidnaps Mycroft.

Initially he thought he'd play with him just for a few days and get rid of him, but the days soon become weeks than a month... Then he realizes one day he's falling for Mycroft and there's nothing that can stop it.

Then one day, he walks in on one of his men pawing Mycroft and it completely sets him off leading him to declare that Mycroft is his.

That's when he realizes it's time for him to get rid of Mycroft. He's become part of him, a great weakness.

But not now. Let's keep him a while longer. He's fun to play with, after all. But he knows it's a clumsy excuse, that he's already a sinking ship, weighed down by his precious treasure that he can never be able to let go.

John had a friend, maybe in Afghanistan, maybe in med school, I don't particularly care. The main fact of the matter is that they have Asperger's Syndrome, and he was perfectly aware of this fact.

He runs into them again, and abruptly realises how very similiar they and Sherlock act. It hadn't crossed his mind that they acted at all alike until that moment.

Bonus points:
* If the aspie friend is from medical school, their specialist subject is medicine/the body/health/all that good stuff.
* The friend and Sherlock interact.

Possible triggers...?

(Anonymous) 2012-01-05 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Sherlock feels that gender is irrelevant.

If Sherlock feels male today, then he's male. If Sherlock feels female today, then she's female. If Sherlock feels like nothing today, then Sherlock is just Sherlock, a person. If Sherlock feels like wearing a suit, or a dress, or just pyjamas, then that's what Sherlock will wear.

Sherlock does not expect John to understand. But then, John has been surprising Sherlock since they met.

(Can be Sherlock/John, friendship, or an ambiguous relationship, it's all good :-))

Trigger warning for psychological manipulation

(Anonymous) 2012-01-05 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
It suddenly occurs to me that after a couple of the scenes with Mycroft in ASiB, what I'd really like to see is a dark-ish interpretation of canon in which John gradually comes to realise that Mycroft is the sociopath of the two brothers, and has been manipulating/moulding Sherlock throughout his life into believing that he is.

Ideally, I'd love if John can put Sherlock a bit more in touch with his own feelings, empathy and awareness of other people - but not so much that he becomes unrecognisable!

(I don't much mind if pre-manipulation Sherlock was somewhere on the Aspergers spectrum, or a naturally detached but otherwise neurotypical individual, whichever fits best for you!)

As a child, Sherlock was sensitive and a little emotionally immature, but other than that, he was healthy (not normal, but he was healthy). But his father/parents/family got tired of him acting younger than he was, and told him to stop crying, stop caring, stop feeling so much, because after all he's a boy so he should act like it.

So Sherlock froze himself up. He taught himself to be cold and detached. Unfortunately, no one told him that when he fell in love, it would thaw him out and ruin years of hard work to become 'heartless'. (His partner loves him no matter what, though :).)

[identity profile] itsxaxmystery.livejournal.com 2012-01-07 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
oh, I can just imagine how frustrated that would make Sherlock when he accidentally starts having feelings when speaking with a witness or relative of a murder victim and starts getting teary-eyed, then subsequently blaming his partner while hugging the guts out of them.

Definitely seconding this!
