John is in love with Sherlock

John is also used to Sherlock manipulating and experimenting on him, and accepts it as part of their dynamic with only the occasional complaint. This doesn't really impact how he feels about or treats him -- but it does mean he will always view Sherlock's words and actions through a lens of doubt.

Which is why when Sherlock confesses (truthfully) that he's in love with him, John can only laugh hysterically.

And when Sherlock starts falling apart over the next few weeks? John can't bring himself to give a damn, because he can only see it as another attempt to manipulate him.

I don't care whether this leads to a good end or a bad end, I just want it to hurt.

During the Hiatus John falls in love with Mary, marries her, and watches the woman he love die all while still mourning Sherlock.

When Sherlock returns, expecting John to eventually forgive him (because he's John and John thinks he's amazing), John is livid. He can't handle this on top of everything else and at one point snaps and yells the cruelest thing he can think to at Sherlock:

So how on earth she had ended up sitting on the floor of a hotel room in Amsterdam fairly drunk and little high with Sherlock, John and some woman called Irene Adler she didn’t know. In fact, she couldn’t actually remember how this had all come about at all. Maybe when she wasn’t so off her face she’d remember. Irene it appeared could handle her alcohol and weed a lot better, she still looked so graceful and refined as she slow danced with Sherlock. Molly wasn’t really sure why they were slow dancing, but there they were. John was sat next to her giggling a little, though whether that was how weird this scene looked or the drugs she wasn’t sure. Some part of her brain told her she should leave, that she should go to bed and sleep all this off. But Irene’s just looking at her with this devious twinkle in her eyes.

“I think we should have some fun tonight,” she says at last, eyes still fixed on Molly. “I have really missed sex since I’ve been dead.”

John just laughs like he hasn’t realised what she was saying. Molly laughs too because John’s laugh, that proper hearty laugh of his, is infectious. Sherlock is holding Irene tight, eyes gleaming.

“Sex sound wonderful,” he says before kissing her with an intensity none of them has ever seen. John’s not laughing now, he’s just staring, and Molly suddenly feels jealous. Why couldn’t Sherlock kiss her like that?

When he breaks apart, Irene’s pristine lipstick is all smudged and she’s breathing hard.

“Now what could have happened to make you do that?” she asks with a smirk.

“I think it might be the marijuana,” he says slowly. “I can certainly assure it’s not the alcohol or else I imagine there would have been many occasions when John would have found himself taken very roughly.”

Oh now there’s an image in Molly’s mind, John and Sherlock kissing with their hands all over each other. She smiles at the idea of it, quite liking how the fantasy is progressing. John manages to get to his feet and points a finger at Sherlock.

“We are not a couple,” he says. Sherlock shakes his head at him before moving across to pull him into a fierce kiss. John doesn’t really react at first, but then finds himself kissing him back. Molly’s fairly sure she could watch this forever. When John pulls back his eyes take a moment to focus on Sherlock again. “We are not a couple, but we could certainly fuck if you wanted to.”

Sherlock said he wanted to test the HOUND drug on an 'average' mind, but what he didn't know was John's mind wasn't the best choice.

John's sensitive to this particular drug. Where it takes a 'normal' person prolonged exposure to experience paranoia and homicidal rages, it takes far less to provoke these things in John.

When John returns to London and Sherlock does something that would usually be considered only mildly vexing, John flies into a full-on paranoid fit with homicidal rage and attacks Sherlock.

What happens next?

I'd liked a happy ending though, please.

Sherlock/Irene- Okay this an established relationship more or less. They have been spending their time watching DVD marathon and having sex in some hotel. I adore the relationship between Sherlock and Lestrade on the show, continually seeing it at parental/father and son. In my head canon, Sherlock's father ran-off when he was a kid, and his mother was neglecful/distant. I'd love a 5-plus-1 kind of fic along the lines of : 5 times Sherlock thought he found his father(I'd love it if one of these times it actually was is biological father, who turned out to be a sleaze bag), and the one time he realized his dad(in my mind a paternal, protective, totally awesome Lestrade) had been there all along. Any pairing is great, just obviously no Lestrade/Sherlock slash please.

John Watson is not a psychopath, sociopath, (functional or otherwise,) or even all that Dark! He is merely a sadist. It's not like he let's that interfere with being a good person. He actually enjoys helping people, being useful, and has never actively contibuted to another person's pain. It's just that, when him being empathizing or sympathetic isn't going to help the situation, then maybe if their screams,(writhing, agony,) warm his heart a little, they don't have to know, do they?

After he returned from his holiday, he decides to ask Mycroft out, which he has only dreamt in his wildest dreams. But now that he doesn't have to feel guilty about it, he thinks why not, and just on a whim, asks Mycroft if he wants to go out with him sometime.

It's when Mycroft accpets it that he realizes he hasn't dated for the past fifteen years. He starts panicking and feeling nervous about it which eventually leads to him screwing their first date big time by doing something really stupid. e.g. talking about how miserable his marrage had been, and how he still likes to stay friends with his ex-wife because he still loves her then hurridely adding not that kind of love, or describing some burned corpses that he saw on his last case in great detail while eating roasted beef, or confessing how attractive he thought John/Sherlock/Molly/whoever was when he first saw them, etc.

Mycroft never asks for a second date, but Lestrade doesn't want to let this one just slide, because he really likes Mycroft. So he tries to make amens. Desperately and adorkably. With his trademark (too friendly) toothy grins, childish prank-ish texts and rom-com style courting. i.g. roses and hand-written cards.

Until Mycroft gives in one day.
