John's army buddies do call him "Three Continents Watson," but it's because he's so terrible at actually making women stick around long enough for sex. Maybe it's his fault in some way (intentional self-sabotage or not) or maybe he just has comedically bad luck, but either way, he's been publicly shot down by women on three continents and he's more than a little sensitive about the nickname.

Which is why it only makes it worse when Lestrade finds out about the nickname, doesn't realize it's supposed to be ironic, and starts ribbing him about how Sherlock must be really throwing him off his game, John's so terrible at getting second dates, etc. Maybe one of his short-lasting girlfriends breaks up with him publicly at a crime scene in front of everyone?

Ultimately it's Sherlock, of all people, who notices and correctly deduces John's distress. I don't know, maybe he yells at Lestrade? Or does some private reassuring that John is, in fact, very much appreciated ;-)

Re-prompting rule change

Hello, everyone, this post is to announce that we've changed one of the guidelines of the meme.

When we were going through more than a single prompting post a month, the "Don't reprompt until TWO parts after the last posting of the prompt." rule was necessary. Now that we're at a more sedate pace, we're changing the rule back to "Please do not re-post prompts unless the last time they were prompted was on an older part. Simply put: ONE posting of each prompt per part."

Thank you to the anon who proposed this change and clarified why it was necessary over on the Page-a-Mod post. We are always open to further suggestions.

Sherlock believes himself to be a master of disguise and convinces John to go to a club/restaurant/somewhere public on a date with him while in elaborate disguise so they can be as openly affectionate with each other as they please.

However, someone with a keen eye recognises them (Irene? Sally?) and this someone knows Mary, likes Mary quite a bit and is fairly disturbed that John would dare do something like this to Mary. Though, Irene (or Sally) says she could keep quiet if she's paid a certain substantial sum of money or requests favours or something else (Sherlock jumps at the opportunity to keep Irene (or Sally) quiet for John's sake, while John wallows in pity).

Irene or Sally eventually reveal to Mary John's unfaithfulness. Mary leaves John, and Sherlock/John get together. And I would love a bonus of Irene/Mary or Sally/Mary.

John Psychological/Emotional H/C

Either Gen or Sherlock/John Slash is fine (Omegaverse with Alpha!Sherlock/Omega!John is never a bad thing).

No het. In the case of slash, no bottom!Sherlock.

John is abducted off the street one night, tortured psychologically for a period of time, and then dropped right back off where he'd been taken.

He appears to be fine physically, but the usually self-sufficient soldier he was is gone. Instead, he's very nervous and fearful around anyone who is not Sherlock. In fact, he seems to suffer from separation anxiety any time Sherlock leaves him alone.

Turns out while he was being tortured, he attempted to use Sherlock as a focal point to try and keep his sanity (if Sherlock finds me, I'll be safe. Get back to Sherlock and be safe. Sherlock = Safety).

I don't want the focus of the story to be the torture - in fact, I would prefer if it took up where he was returned and what happened to him only referenced as needed while Sherlock and co. help him heal.

Bonus points if Sherlock takes John with him to a crime scene (because John won't be left alone) and the sight of the blood/corpse causes a bit of a freak out (they knew it probably wasn't a good idea, but given he's a doctor and ex-soldier they're still unprepared for his reaction) and from then on, Lestrade becomes his 'minder' at any scene they visit, helping him to start trusting others besides Sherlock.

Couple things of importance:

No Moriarty or any other of Sherlock's enemies. Whoever took John did so either randomly or because John met a certain criteria they needed for their 'games.' I don't want this to turn into a 'John is hurt so Sherlock can suffer' scenerio. Of course, Sherlock should be upset and worried for his friend (or lover if you go slash) and undoubtedly he would begin to feel a bit hampered by having John so clingy which could result in some rash action and ensuing angst on both their parts, but the primary focus should be hurt!John with protective!Sherlock.

While I am usually fine with non-con/rape, I think it is sometimes overused in stories like this where a character is broken down. While I wouldn't be opposed to some minor molestation and threats of worse being used during the course of the torture, it should be used sparingly if at all. :) Sensory deprivation, water torture, etc. would be nice alternatives that aren't used often.

Sherlock is a hoarder

Sherlock is a hoarder. Mycroft sweeps through every once in a while and has his people throw out pretty much everything in the flat, which only makes Sherlock more desperate to hoard everything he can get immediately afterward. Maybe this has contributed to Sherlock getting kicked out of flats in the past, and/or is related to his drug use?

Anyway, John comes along, and all of a sudden 221B is under control. Not clean, never actually clean, but John refuses to let Sherlock accumulate intestines and toes and microscope slides and fungal cultures and it's at least livable. But then Sherlock fakes his death and John goes off and gets married and Sherlock's living on his own again in 221B after he gets back and everything goes to hell in a handbasket.

I'd love to just see someone's take on this - how it bears on Sherlock and Mycroft's relationship, how John reacts when he finds out how serious Sherlock's problem is, whether Sherlock gets a handle on his hoarding or not, etc.

Sherlock lies about being asexual (past abuse/noncon/coercion)

Sherlock tells people he's asexual because that's less embarrassing than the truth.

Sherlock has a lower libido plus he has had previously bad experiences with abusive partners which has made him cautious of intimacy and sex and relationships in general. But that was a long time ago and he thinks that still affected is embarrassing.

So when John and Sherlock inch towards a relationship, Sherlock lies about being asexual.

Sherlock wasn't actually raped

Sherlock gets kidnapped (temporarily). When he finally gets rescued, everyone assumes (because of circumstances or because of the kidnapper bragging) that he's been raped or otherwise sexually assaulted. Sherlock brushes the idea aside as absurd, which only makes everyone more concerned that he's trying to hide his emotions and lie to the world about it. Except Sherlock really wasn't raped - he was just locked somewhere he couldn't get out and that's really it.

I'd love to see well-meaning but overbearing Mycroft, Lestrade trying to be carefully sympathetic but get shot down, John thring to get Sherlock to open up more in private, etc. Maybe eventually Sherlock realizes that everyone keeps harping on it because they actually care about him?

Sherlock, John, Lestrade(?) Stuck in the Wilderness

I was recently in the woods, and I found myself wondering what Sherlock would be like if he was stuck in the wilderness. So...Sherlock, John, and maybe Lestrade end up in a forest somewhere, without mobile phones or laptops.

You can have pretty much any scenario for how they ended up there: the apocalypse, they've been kidnapped and dropped off in the middle of nowhere, they get lost on a case, whatever. I also don't really care if they manage to get back to London. But I'd love to see how Sherlock reacts to something so different than his normal environment. John (and Lestrade) being BAMF at surviving would be fabulous, and so would Sherlock using his coat as a blanket.

I prompted this a good while ago, but it didn't get filled, so I thought I'd try again..

I might try a mini-fill. I was wondering, since the prompt was vague(which was good!) were you looking specifically for some Sally/Sherlock or just the two of them together in the Quiet Room, not necessarily having sex?
This concept is beyond words. I really want to try a fill but I might mess it up. Worth a try?
