Ah okay, there is a video on John's blog and of course not being in the UK means I can't watch it.

Somebody please up load it.

It's a BBC News report on the events after the scene on the roof and following the newspaper revelations. Interestingly it only mentions one death.

Sherlock's website

(Anonymous) 2012-01-15 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Ok - I thought this might be answered in TRF but no - the improbable one on Sherlock's website, are they an on-screen character?

Re: Sherlock's website

I mostly thought so, yeah.

(Anonymous) 2012-01-15 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Watching Bruiser (the comedy mini series, not the Romero film) while waiting for Reichenbach to finish downloading: it's fun and everything but fucking hell I fucking hate the sketch with Sparky the annoying wooden doll. Because I just fucking hate dolls, they're creepy and I'd gladly tear them all to pieces, they're creepy!

Although it gave me some satisfaction to watch Martin Freeman's character strangle that fucking doll, even if it was a ridiculously unfunny sketch.

(Anonymous) 2012-01-16 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
Dolls *shudders* my father had a really creepy ventriloquism dummy in my parents room. It scared me so bad that when I had nightmares I would get to my parents door, stop because I was scared, and then go cry myself to sleep in the bathroom with all the light on.
My father refused to get rid of it because I was being silly. I promise you that thing was evil!

Martin Freeman is now the patron god of protection from evil dolls. Someone let him know, he has a big job

This is a response to someone who blamed slashers for the apparent decline in the meme: fuck you.

Look on the delicious account you mindless bastard, what's the most popular pairings tag? Oh, that's right, Sherlock and John. In fact, most of the popular pairings tags Re slash. I'm not saying that the only thing that people write and prompt are slash, but you'd have to be on the Anderson level of stupid to honestly think that one of the things keeping thins fandom afloat and has been for ver a year is the support from slashers.

In addition, there is simply more support for a slasher pairing than a het pairing, more often than not. Don't believe me? Let's take a lok at the ladies of Sherlock.

Molly: love her, and there was even some support for her and Sherlock in Reinbark, but let's face it, never gonna happen, she just wouldn't be able to handle him.

Sally: an unredemable bitch by Reinbark, admit it, I certainly wouldn't have her if you paid me. I just lost all respect for her in that final episode, and my respect for Anderson tok a nose dive.

Irene: Sherlock's mental equal, but not into him (she herself said that she was into women in ASIB)

(Anonymous) 2012-01-15 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)

Cathyesque rant ahead

(Anonymous) 2012-01-16 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
Any of you guys watch the TV show Psych? Embarrassing confession time: Lassiter is the sort of guy I'd fall for if he was real. I like that he's got a very strong moral compass and knows what's right and wrong. I respect the fact he doesn't get all wishy washy about his emotions. He's professional, loyal and refuses to quit.

Only... He thinks Ronald Reagan was the best president and that anyone worse off than he is just isn't trying hard enough. This keeps happening to me again and again IRL. The kind of guys I fall for, personality-wise, also hold political views I find abhorrent. Guys who know how to talk about kyriarchies and oppression are goddamn hippies who want to sit around in drum circles smoking weed and talking about everyone's feefees. Guys who are intelligent, restrained and determined to the point of scary-eyes think that anyone who hasn't pulled themselves out of the gutter just isn't trying hard enough.

Re: Cathyesque rant ahead

People are still nice even if they like things you hate. I'm friends with lots of people who love shopping, and Glee, and that are Fascists. Fascists as in "Mussolini was a great guy" Fascist, not... "he's a stick in the mud". And one skin head.

After all, it's not like they're made only of that...

I never cry before tv shows, but for this one? Damnit, my heart aches D:

Martin Freeman, why you gotta act so well. John is too broken. Put him back together again!!

Also : Mycroft, you're really an idiot. You're supposed to be even more clever than Sherlock. The fuck did you think you were doing. Seriously.
That was so weird and fucked up of him, I'm beginning to think he revealed all those things about Sherlock on purpose... because how hard is it to just make shit up? Can't he lie? Or realise there's no code?!

Re: spoi...lers?

(Anonymous) 2012-01-16 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
With regards to Mycroft, I got the horrible feeling that he knew exactly what he was doing but did it anyway because he could rationalise that information on Moriarty was worth more than his brother's safety.

Which... makes me sad but I'm not surprised.

SPOILERS FOR REICHENBACH - READ AT OWN RISK

(Anonymous) 2012-01-16 01:02 am (UTC)(link)
SPOILERS

Lots of warnings for something relatively little:

I was...underwhelmed.

Which is fine - being underwhelmed for Sherlock still means pretty damn good - but...

The dialogue. Was so. PAINFUL.

I couldn't. It was just...I'm not even sure why I didn't like it. Overdramatic, but in the bad way? Too many things being repeated, not enough subtlety? It just...really took me out of it.

The dialogue was also something that bothered me in TBB, so...I dunno. Might be a personal opinion.

(Also...wtf, John, you're mad at him now for being famous? YOU WERE THE ONE WITH THE BLOG, PUBLISHING THE DAMN STORIES, SAYING "THIS IS YOUR JOB NOW" - AND NOW YOU WANT HIM TO KEEP A LOW PROFILE? SRSLY?)

Also (yeah, this is fucking major spoilers, if you haven't already, leave now) - I really, really loved MF's acting in the last scene. And that shot of Sherlock just...spoiled the whole thing for me. (...okay, exagerrating a bit, but...yeah, I just really didn't like that they showed him at the end.)

Re: SPOILERS FOR REICHENBACH - READ AT OWN RISK

(Anonymous) 2012-01-16 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
They showed him at the end so that casual viewers who know nothing about the originals will realise it's not the end. Otherwise they'd just be like "oh ok, so it's over now. Fair enough" and would be really shocked when season 3 came out.

I'm not sure whether or not to try and get into this fandom community but somehow I've ended up really lonely without a fandom to cling to and Sherlock's definitely become my new fandom except I've talked to nobody in it except left a couple reviews on stories. it's just normally this naturally evolves and I feel like it's fucking weird to decide to talk to people by thinking "I want to talk to people in this fandom" instead of actually having something to talk to them about.
it's just right now I have all this fandom and nobody to talk about it with because it's real world taboo.
...except then some of my real world friends are actually in fandom too, so I could discuss it with them but I feel too self-conscious after considering it taboo for so long.

(Anonymous) 2012-01-16 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
Hello, my dear. Come inside! Sherlock!fandom is a marvelous, varied place...yeah, but anyway, everyone's really cool here. I mostly lurk, but if you want smart people who write quality fic, this is the place for you.

Yeah I had the same problem with talking to other people I know irl who happen to be in fandom about fandom (It really shouldn't be like fight club, but it is.) until one of my friends and I were talking about writing, and some of the fic she was writing was ten times weirder than anything I'd even read, so I feel no self-conciousness talking to her anymore. Just give it a shot!

spoilers for Reichenbach

(Anonymous) 2012-01-16 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
When John finally reached Sherlock's body he managed to take his hand before people dragged him away and I distinctly saw him take Sherlock's pulse, or lack thereof. Now, we know Sherlock's still alive so how did he get away with a doctor grabbing his wrist and feeling a pulse on what was supposed to be a dead-dead-definitely-dead-and-splattered-all-over-the-sidewalk body?

Option 1: writer/director/Martin messed up?
Option 2: plot hole?
Option 3: John was so in shock that even if he grabbed Sherlock's wrist he didn't realise/doesn't remember Sherlock actually had a pulse and wasn't dead?
Option 4: John is actually a better actor than we all thought and he was in on it with Sherlock to fool the snipers into thinking he was buying the whole "Sherlock Holmes is a fraud" plan to help save Lestrade's life, Mrs Hudson's and his own, so he actually knows Sherlock's not dead and just playing along?

I'm steering towards option 3, it would understandable, poor John. But option 4 would be pretty cool too, me thinks.

Also: faking death from falling off a freaking waterfall was already difficult, but faking death falling off a building after people and what looked like nurses (I've noticed a woman, possibly two, dressed in those light blue hospital gowns) and your best friend saw your bloodied corpse smashed on the pavement? How the hell does one fake that? Boy, I wouldn't want to be in the Empty House writer's shoes.

Re: spoilers for Reichenbach

(Anonymous) 2012-01-16 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
There seems to be a 5th option swimming around - that it isn't Sherlock, and they swapped his body with a dead guy's and used a fake mask. (And made John hit his head, so he'd be too disoriented to notice.)

I'm sure the writers meticulously planned out how he faked it already - they wouldn't have written themselves into a corner with a 3rd series on the way.

Reichenbach MAJOR spoilers

(Anonymous) 2012-01-16 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
La la la.

This is a bigass space so people's eyes don't accidentally wander on the first line of my "rant" (more of an opinion, really) and yell at me for spoiling a major twist.

La la lalalalala. Fart burp la la la end of safety space.

So, Moriarty died. No surprise there for those of us who have read The Final Problem before, like me.

But I was honestly, truly, completely, utterly, totally, absolutely not ready for Moriarty committing suicide.

That was... holy fucking shit, for me it was unexpected and abrupt and shocking. In all the good ways. I mean, no, not all the good ways, I fucking love Moriarty and I'm sad to see him go, but I knew he was going to die and I was ready for that. That is, I was ready for him to be dragged by Sherlock off the roof, shot by a sniper who wasn't actully on his side, slip on a fucking banana peel planted there by Sherlock and crack his head open on the concrete, I was ready to see him be killed, not kill himself with a smile and a thank you.

That was a great twist, awesome and insane and somehow beautiful in its own manic way.

But. Being ready for it, then being shocked by it, then stopping to think and finding it all amazing and wonderful still doesn't stop me from wanting to rant about a fucking great villain's death and lament his future absence. Thank god there will always be fic!

Re: Reichenbach MAJOR spoilers

(Anonymous) 2012-01-16 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
I LOVED that. It was shocking and it was so perfectly in character. The only way to ensure Sherlock is destroyed (wither by jumping or letting his friends die) was for him to die as well. Brilliant. And completely insane.

episode 3 spoilers

(Anonymous) 2012-01-16 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
Why is there always always something I don't get about the episodes and then it always turns out it's something stupid everybody noticed?

I don't get one thing: Sherlock, at Bart's, before the end. Molly is there and he finally acts nicer than ever with her. He says he needs her and then...and then what? We don't see her anymore, next thing Sherlock does is go up on the roof with Moriarty and we all know what happens next. So what did she ask Molly for? How did she help him? Did they just talk, did he just pour his heart out to her? I refuse to believe it's just that, they can't have had just a chat, it seems... weird, and underwhelming.

Thoughts?

Re: WARNING: SPOILERS!!! Why is Reichenbach so confusing?

(Anonymous) 2012-01-16 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
I thought that was being an ordinary man, "on the side of the angels" versus being interesting in Moriarty's eyes, being basically the same as Moriarty himself. Not a goody-goody person by nature with their little morals, but someone who in different situation could have basically become Moriarty.

He won the game (at least to an extent, because Sherlock didn't really die) by killing himself. He was quite insane, so there's that reason too. Sherlock had no choice than to jump when he was dead if Sherlock wanted to save John, Mrs Hudson and Lestrade.

SPOILER Y'ALL

(Anonymous) 2012-01-16 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
Alright, there are SPOILERS in this post.

I actually kind of understand Sally. To me, it seems like a logical reaction from someone who doesn't know about Sherlock. Sure, we've seen him through the show but she hasn't. I think a lot of people would assume that a "sociopathic" genius with a penchant for solving crime would be able to even commit some of the crimes, and make it seem real.

Whatever. Unpopular opinion, I guess.
