Lame rant about my lack of willpower

(Anonymous) 2012-01-16 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
I am so fed up with my slow internet connection. I have been downloading for hours and am still hours away from Sherlock. I'm stuck watching the Golden Globes until it's finished. I swore up and down that this time I wouldn't read reactions and spoil the end for myself. My resolve weakens with each passing minute... must fight...

Why don't you just find a uk ip address and then go on iplayer?

spoilers, ep3

(Anonymous) 2012-01-16 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
Everybody's free to like or dislike any character, of course, but personally I really just can't dislike or hate Donovan and Anderson for seriously doubting Sherlock and unknowingly set Moriarty's final part of the plan in motion: if I put myself in their shoes it's really not that difficult to understand why they would think so.

There's this guy, this unbearably smug and arrogant guy who walks in your workplace, makes you feel like an idiot, spits out deductions like a magician takes a rabbit out of their top hat... I find it really not hard at all to try and understand why they feel bitter and why they'd start to doubt Sherlock in the end.

Re: spoilers, ep3

(Anonymous) 2012-01-16 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
It's not even just bitterness. From their point of view, this man is dangerous - and they have plenty of evidence (if circumstantial) to back it up. A competent officer in their shoes would do exactly the same thing - and if they didn't, they should.

SPOIERLS

(Anonymous) 2012-01-16 02:33 am (UTC)(link)

HELP ME GUISE. I AM DEPRESSED OVER MORIARTY'S DEATH.

WHY.

Re: SPOIERLS

(Anonymous) 2012-01-16 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
Moriarty was actually born and bred in Baskerville, where the whole "experiment on glow-in-the-dark rabbits" is just a cover: what they actually do there, in the lower floors, is genetic mutation on human beings.

Moriarty is one of Baskerville's mutants with the ability of cellular regeneration. That bullet through his skull? Give it a few minutes, fifteen at most, and he'll be as good as new. Bad news for Sherlock, though.

a bit spoilery for Reichenbach

(Anonymous) 2012-01-16 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
Did anybody notice that Moriarty's lawyer was portraied by Ian Hallard, Mark Gatiss' husband?

Maybe it's because I like both of them as actors and how they come across irl, but I definitely feel a new possibly rare OTP being born: Mycroft/Nameless Lawyer.

Actual rant: I wish Ian's character had more lines, dammit, he's a good actor and I don't see him often enough.

WWWWWWHHHHHHHHHYYYYYYYYYYYY NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MMMMMMMMMMMOOOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNN?

Seriously; why no Moran? Is there something wrong with having a gun faceoff between John and Moran?

Re: kind of spoilers

(Anonymous) 2012-01-16 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
Moran is actually introduced face to face to Holmes and Watson only in The Empty House, which comes right after The Final Problem (aka Reichenbach). I guess the writer (Thompson or something?) wanted to be true to that and save Moran for s3.

Also, what with Moriarty being the focus of this episode and then being killed off the series it was probably a smart move to not introduce any other villain and save it for an eventual s3: that way we'll have the novely of an entirely never-seen-before villain instead of "oh that sniper we've already seen a bit last time, how boring, I wish Moriarty were still here".

Well, fuck.

I wasn't feeling sleepy at all so when after 11.30pm links started to shot up I decided to start downloading Reichenbach, I thought: "Might as well start on it while the laptop's on and I have time". The download finished pretty quickly, I finished watching the episode around 1.30am (holyshitsoamazing).

And now I'm still not sleepy.

Fuck monday mornings, I'll go find cookies: if I'm not sleeping I might as well get high on sugar and sod it all.

Spoilers a-hoy!

(Anonymous) 2012-01-16 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
Seriously? You're going to hate Donovan and Anderson because they did their bloody job?

An unsufferable guy waltzes in a crime scene giggling because "yes, finally something FUNNY", shows no respect to the victim or its relatives, spouts nonsense saying that it's obvious because LOOK AT THE MUD... and when two victims start screaming the moment they see him and they're supposed to NOT suspect that something's weird?

No, it has nothing to do with them finding him annoying- though they do and they have good reason to. It's just the most logical answer and what every person with some sense of duty would have done.

Re: Spoilers a-hoy!

(Anonymous) 2012-01-16 06:41 am (UTC)(link)
+10000

While this episode obviously left me wanting all sorts of S/J reunion fic, it left me with an equal desire to see more Donovan fic, because honestly? She was awesome. Wrong, but still determined to do the right, and most logical, thing.

Now I really desire fic where she and Sherlock end up working together and respecting each other -- from BOTH sides.

Seriously? SERIOUSLY? Fuck you forever21! Fuck you with something hard and sandpapery!

(Anonymous) 2012-01-16 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
I was trying on some clothing and when I go to hand back the clothes I am not buying, like the sign says to, the attendant refuses to take them. Apparently she identified me as a lesbian because I was wearing a pride bracelet and she refused to touch the "contaminated" clothes. Told me since I had tried them on I had to buy them since she could not "in good conscience put them back on the rack." WHAT THE EVER LOVING HELL!

So I go and say I need to file a complaint with management. The manager says "I am so sorry that that happened to you. That is never acceptable, even though we typically cater to real women."

...

SAME. I was like, 'LOL, I can't imagine crying about this. I know he'll be back.' And I suppose I didn't really cry about Sherlock; it was mostly for John and the Sherlock&John friendship. That freaking phone call... ;_;

Spoilery

(Anonymous) 2012-01-16 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
I need fic. I need fic right now with Mycroft feeling really really really terribly horribly bad that he fucked up. And I don't want him to find out Sherlock is alive until after John does. And I want him to cry...both of them, Mycroft and John. But mostly Mycroft.

So yeah, can someone take care of this for me, please? I was going to prompt it, but I forgot about the freeze.

(Mycroft says, "So confunde." Yeah, I'm sorry you were confused, but you're supposed to be better than that!"

Re: Spoilery (cont)

(Anonymous) 2012-01-16 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
And yeah, Okay, so I agree with the anon above, about him being cold and calculating and getting information from Moriarty pertaining to national security was more important than his brother's privacy, but that doesn't mean I have to like it!

(Now Mycroft's just talking gibberish.)

Gatiss. You're in the League of Gentlemen. You were in Psychoville. You owed him this.

WHY DIDN'T YOU CAST REECE SHEARSMITH AS MORIARTY?!

It would have been so awesome! So totally, incredibly AWESOME!

But it's okay. This Moriarty kicked ass.

This sort of thing happens to me more than it should

(Anonymous) 2012-01-16 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, sometimes I get this thing in my head and I can't tell if it's an actual thing, something I read in a fan fic, or some sort of amalgamation of various things. The latest one of this happening is really bugging me.

So, anyone with a good grasp of psychology, help me out here.

Is it possible for people who have been through a trauma to be otherwise fine, but to have completely shut down on communication. Well, not completely shut down. But they will essentially go mute, and while they can understand what's being said they're ability to use language so they can't write anything comprehensible.

Only details of this that stick out in my mind.

So: real, fan fiction, or other?

Re: This sort of thing happens to me more than it should

(Anonymous) 2012-01-16 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
Well, there's something called aphasia, but it's caused by brain damage rather than a psychological trauma.

But anyway... it sounds possible, kinda. Our brain works in mysterious ways and stress does weird things to people...

I'm the OP of the phrase you quoted, hello like-minded anon! I felt some strange and unexpected pity too, maybe because he wasn't just a criminal doing it for the power and the money: he was a bored genius who wanted to have fun and finally found somebody similar to him in Sherlock, he had literally nothing to lose. After thinking Sherlock was sadly ordinary he seemed to feel grateful he wasn't so ordinary and more similar to him than he thought, that... really moved me in a strange way.

What a villain, what a villain.

2. If it wasn't for the fact that this is Sherlock Holmes canon, it would kind of work, his death. Fine. Good. Make sense. That being said,
