+re: hijacking.

Please refrain from hijacking a prompt. Hijacking may be defined as responding to a prompt by taking a portion of it and adding your own ideas about what should be added, changed or eliminated. In addition, commenting with off topic jokes or chatter.

By hijacking, the focus of the prompt can be lost, and inappropriate threads created. By doing this fillers may be discouraged which is something no one wants to experience.

If a prompt leads you to an original idea, please create your own prompt. The chatter or love posts are the proper places to share jokes or talk about prompts that have inspired you.

John let the subject drop and Sherlock didn’t bring it up.

Scotland Yard catches the Lothario Rapist following his attack on Momsen and an unnamed victim three weeks later. The details did not appear in the newspapers. When John inquired about the sudden media black out Lestrade had sent a brief message that served as an answer. Mycroft Holmes.

Sherlock kept quiet and took on private clients while Lestrade worked out the last few kinks on the Lothario case and the “Incident” as John referred to it in his head could be placed or at least stop being the elephant in the room.

He tried to help. He dropped off literature in the flat and left his computer on relevant sites that Sherlock would see while he was away at work. He didn’t feel like it was doing any good. The papers ended up in the bin and Sherlock no doubt just closed the windows with an eye roll.

One morning before work he just stated. “Do you delete the data that contradicts you?” Then left without waiting for Sherlock to reply. When he returned from work he found his computer infected with two viruses and Sherlock no-where to be found. He didn’t know if he regretted saying that and paid the repair bill without complain. Sherlock still took his computer once he was assured it was virus free.

The day Mycroft appeared in their living room next to a truly shaken Sherlock, John knew his brother had somehow gotten to him in a way John could not. He didn’t say anything, offered Mycroft tea and pretended not to notice the bruise that had started to form on Mycroft’s chin. Sherlock took his tea without any comment.

When he went to sleep in his room, Mycroft pulled him aside and told John about Sherlock’s bad days and where to find the cocaine.

Sherlock spoke with him over dinner. “He’s been coming every day since the incident at the Yard. Of course you told him about this incident.” Sherlock looked away. “I hate therapists as much as you, John. Of course he knew not to try and send me to one.” He took in a deep breath. “I was wrong, John. My reaction was illogical, as you said before, and a response to the trauma.”

“Yes and I’m not blaming you, Sherlock.” John said. “You were a kid – “ Sherlock cut him off with a wave of his hand.

“I know. You’re a good doctor, you wouldn’t “blame the victim” and all that rubbish. ” Sherlock looked annoyed then grimaced. “I need to apologize to Lestrade or else I’m not going to get any more cases from the Yard. What should I say?”

“That you were wrong and that he was right in taking you off the case. Nothing more or less if you don’t want to.” John answered.

“Good, good.” He paused. “Should I apologize to Momsen?”

“No. You didn’t mention any of this in front of her and I doubt Lestrade said anything about this to her. Just let her get on with her life and you with yours.”

“She came here, you know. To thank us for catching him. I didn’t know what to say just accepted it and she left.”

“Just don’t mention it. At least not now, not so soon after it happened.”

“Yes, fine. I’ll do that. Good day at work?” Sherlock asked.

“Yes.”

Life went on.

A.N. So that's it! I hope that wasn't a disappointment. I am sorry if the ending very satisfying but as I stated before this was very hard to write. I didn't want to deal with Sherlock's revelation personally as I realized that this was more in John's POV so he would deal more with the aftermath than with the event itself if he weren't there to witness it.

If any of you were curious about the title as well since I know it's a bit odd. It's a reference to Sherlock's state of mind about the rape. The "Shadow" is a shadow of doubt which he experienced dealing with the event. He took refuge in the doubt that what he experienced was rape and the fact that he convinced himself that it was consensual as that is how was able to deal with the event - thus the "Oasis" bit as it was like a comfort in a desert.

I really enjoyed this, however, part 3b/3 is the same as part 3a/3. Any chance of getting that bit put up so that I can properly finish reading? Pretty please.
