King Mycroft wants to marry off his Omega brother. He's not sure who deserves to become related to the royal family, so he announces the contest for the noble Alphas. Sherlock is furious. He throws tantrums, embarrasses Mycroft in front of important guests, endlessly complains to his old, loving nanny (Mrs Hudson? <3), tries to run away more than once, etc.
Sir John Watson comes back from a war and learns about the contest, as somebody tries to convince him to take part in it. He's very sceptical and not enthusiastic at all. Maybe he's not noble enough, but is still allowed to take part. He becomes much more enthusiastic when he sees Sherlock. And Sherlock is immediately smitten with him. And Mycroft is like: ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡° ).
Despite the mutual interest, John still has to fight for Sherlock's hand in marriage, since the contest has already been announced. It doesn't prevent Sherlock from giving his some tokens of affection and little messages with tips on how to beat some of his opponents.
