Prompting Part XXXV

GUIDELINES

  • Anon posting is not required, but most definitely allowed. If you think you recognise an anon, keep it to yourself and don’t out them. IP tracking is off, and will remain that way.

  • Multiple fills are encouraged, and all kinds of fills are accepted! Fic, art, vids, cosplay, interpretive dance — whatever. Go wild! :D

  • Don’t reprompt until TWO parts after the last posting of the prompt.

  • RPF (real person fic, i.e. fic involving the actors themselves) is not supported at this meme.

  • Concrit is welcome, but kinkshaming, hijacking, and flaming are not tolerated.

THE FILLED PROMPTS POST
When you fill a prompt, please use the appropriate Filled Prompts Post to archive your fill (there are instructions on the actual post).

If the part you wanted isn't up yet, just wait and one of the archivists will get to it, but please, once it is up, make sure you post your fills there according to the guidelines. DO NOT skip out on doing this because it seems like too much effort. If you want your fill to make it to the Delicious archive, that’s the way to do it.

Do not be afraid to ask questions about how it works if you are confused! The mods will be happy to explain.

WARNINGS/OFFENSIVE WORDING IN PROMPTS
Please consider warning for prompts that may trigger people (and also for fills, because some people read in flat view) and phrasing prompts in a manner that strives to be respectful.

Things which you might want to consider warning for include: Rape/Non-Con, Death, Suicidal Thoughts, Self-Harm, Underage Relationships, among others.

That being said, this is a kink meme. As such, there will be prompts that could offend you in a number of different ways. Not every prompt will have a trigger warning, and not every prompt will rub you the right way. If you have an issue with a specific prompt, feel free to bring it up in a discussion that takes place off the meme. However, flaming will not be tolerated regardless of origin.

You are highly encouraged to scroll past any prompt that you dislike.

Remember: be civil, be friendly, but don’t be shy!

THINGS THAT MAKE BROWSING THE MEME EASIER FOR EVERYONE
Please nest your fills. Doing so will make it easier for archivists to save your fills to the Delicious archive. Using subject lines will also help people reading the meme in flatview keep track of what’s happening. Finally, titling your fills (even if it’s something silly) will be helpful to those tracking a lot of prompts or scrolling through the meme.

PROMPT FREEZES
Depending on the rate of activity, there may or may not be a prompt freeze when a part reaches 2000 and 4500 comments. However, there will be one when it reaches 7000. After the 7000 comments freeze, a new part will be posted, and all prompting should happen on the new part.

Fill Part 11

It’s dangerous to lie to Sherlock Holmes about anything, which can make it tricky to get away to film the background scenes. This is why my character has a job. The morning after the business with the cabbie, I run out to “the clinic”. I don’t need to wear yesterday’s clothes; the wardrobe department will provide a duplicate outfit.

I take the tube. In the early years of the show, there was no tube, but it didn’t matter, because Sherlock was too young to ride it by himself. It was only added after several years on the air, for budget reasons. Even so, it’s a rather abbreviated version of the real thing, one of the most obvious ways this miniature London differs from the real thing.

I get nervous on the way. When I saw Mycroft at the crime scene, he didn’t give me even the faintest sign that he cared about my killing the cabbie one way or another. I wasn’t really surprised; Sherlock would have easily picked up on anything weird between me and his brother. I wonder how Mycroft can do this, simultaneously pull all the strings and then appear in Sherlock’s world, cool as ice. He’s cool—or cold—in the real world, too…maybe that’s the secret.

“Work” is a high-security soundstage set up as a warehouse. Somebody hands me my lines, Mycroft comes in through a side door, and we do the scene where he asks me to spy on Sherlock for money. Where I think he’s some kind of arch-enemy or criminal mastermind. After we’re done, he turns away, as though he plans to just go right back out the way he came.

“Wait,” I say.

He turns, looks at me with an expression of weary patience. I suddenly don’t know what I was going to say.

“I—that man. The cabbie.”

Mycroft raises his eyebrows. “What about him?”

“He’s dead.”

“Mm, quite.”

“Did you know that was going to happen?”

“Why does that matter?”

“I just want to know if I…did I do the right thing?”

He frowns. “Did you do what you would have done if it were all real?”

I consider this, consider Sherlock, the pill, the gun.

“Yes,” I say at last.

“Then, you did the right thing. Good day, Mr. Wilson.”

This gives me no kind of satisfaction, but of course he goes on his merry way.

I love this! And John's POV has always been my favourite. :)

Does it mean anybody in the show can die for real or it's just for some particular people who actually come there to die?

I liked Sherlock's reaction. Finally, he's got somebody very special in his life.

Please update soon!

Ah! I love how suspenseful and dark you're making this! And I LOL'd for real at John's fortune cookie. Can't wait to see how the rest of this unfolds. But seriously, poor Sherlock. D:

Hey, I'm glad you're liking it! I just wanted to reassure that I am still working on it...I've realized a need to write a bit further ahead before posting to make sure all the pieces fit together.

Also, I just re-read the prompt and realized I totally screwed up the part about having Brook try out for the role of Watson...sorry about that, argh. :-(
