Prompting Part XXXIV

GUIDELINES

  • Anon posting is not required, but most definitely allowed. If you think you recognise an anon, keep it to yourself and don’t out them. IP tracking is off, and will remain that way.

  • Multiple fills are encouraged, and all kinds of fills are accepted! Fic, art, vids, cosplay, interpretive dance — whatever. Go wild! :D

  • Don’t reprompt until TWO parts after the last posting of the prompt.

  • RPF (real person fic, i.e. fic involving the actors themselves) is not supported at this meme.

  • Concrit is welcome, but kinkshaming, hijacking, and flaming are not tolerated.

THE FILLED PROMPTS POST
When you fill a prompt, please use the appropriate Filled Prompts Post to archive your fill (there are instructions on the actual post).

If the part you wanted isn't up yet, just wait and one of the archivists will get to it, but please, once it is up, make sure you post your fills there according to the guidelines. DO NOT skip out on doing this because it seems like too much effort. If you want your fill to make it to the Delicious archive, that’s the way to do it.

Do not be afraid to ask questions about how it works if you are confused! The mods will be happy to explain.

WARNINGS/OFFENSIVE WORDING IN PROMPTS
Please consider warning for prompts that may trigger people (and also for fills, because some people read in flat view) and phrasing prompts in a manner that strives to be respectful.

Things which you might want to consider warning for include: Rape/Non-Con, Death, Suicidal Thoughts, Self-Harm, Underage Relationships, among others.

That being said, this is a kink meme. As such, there will be prompts that could offend you in a number of different ways. Not every prompt will have a trigger warning, and not every prompt will rub you the right way. If you have an issue with a specific prompt, feel free to bring it up in a discussion that takes place off the meme. However, flaming will not be tolerated regardless of origin.

You are highly encouraged to scroll past any prompt that you dislike.

Remember: be civil, be friendly, but don’t be shy!

THINGS THAT MAKE BROWSING THE MEME EASIER FOR EVERYONE
Please nest your fills. Doing so will make it easier for archivists to save your fills to the Delicious archive. Using subject lines will also help people reading the meme in flatview keep track of what’s happening. Finally, titling your fills (even if it’s something silly) will be helpful to those tracking a lot of prompts or scrolling through the meme.

PROMPT FREEZES
Depending on the rate of activity, there may or may not be a prompt freeze when a part reaches 2000 and 4500 comments. However, there will be one when it reaches 7000. After the 7000 comments freeze, a new part will be posted, and all prompting should happen on the new part.

FILL: Part 12A - All Life is an Experiment (Mycroft/Sherlock)

(Anonymous) 2014-10-19 07:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Chapter 12
Day 25

Day 0: set up

Experiment – subject: Mycroft (brother)

Purpose: key objective is to observe and evaluate the reaction of subject to various sexual and non-sexual stimuli related to relationships, and their influence and affective reaction upon a pre-existing sibling bond; and to analyse the resulting relationship conflict.

Design: study will involve various stimuli using both verbal and non-verbal means. Frequent associations with the subject to accelerate timeline of behavioural changes.

Mycroft reads the short introduction for the fourth time. Not because he doesn’t understand it, or can’t remember what his brother has written. He’s able to recite it word for word after his first pass. But he’s still somewhat in shock that Sherlock ever thought that this – this experiment, the mere thought of which still brought about a bitter taste in his mouth – would have ended in anything but a disaster.

He picks up the small notebook, the leather warm from his constant handling, and flicks ahead several pages. His eyes alight on Sherlock’s distinctive penmanship, his unique style of noting his observations.

Day 4: the first kiss

Subject response to the sequence of gifts led to his unexpected presence at my flat. Presumptive theory that the bespoke gifts advanced the expected timeframe of projected Subject’s timeframe.

The evening progressed further than expectations again however an opportunity presented itself. Subject’s reaction was likely influenced by the consumption of alcohol – in both the inhibition of his usual uptight behaviour and deductive skills. Or given the fraternal relation, subject did not foresee the inevitable next step of a kiss following stereotypical courting behaviour – note, key step of a date is missing from the timeline which may have contributed to the subject’s surprise.

The kiss was simple and perfunctory. Subject’s reaction by comparison was much more interesting – complex. Details noted below.

Additional note – see addendum on personal intoxication levels. I experienced several abnormal reactions as a result of this step which is currently attributed to the lack of food and alcohol consumption. Will repeat activity, including a level of alcohol intake to see whether abnormal reactions are replicated or not. If the former, may require reassessment of personal involvement.

He still remembers that first kiss so clearly, coming as it did during an evening where he and Sherlock simply enjoyed each other’s company as they did years before – it had been far too long since the two of them had been so accommodating, Mycroft now recalls ruefully. The shock of registering Sherlock’s lips against his, that his little brother initiated the kiss, had left Mycroft in stunned silence for an unprecedentedly long time. A glance further down Sherlock’s supplementary notes confirmed his brother had enjoyed eliciting that particular reaction.

Reactions. This scheme of Sherlock’s was purely to manipulate him, Mycroft tells himself. To elicit feelings that he wouldn’t otherwise show so openly. To manufacture a longing, a desire that didn’t really exist. Except now it does, Mycroft has to acknowledge. There are too many signs pointing to something going awry with Sherlock’s original experiment.

The concept of manipulation is at odds with the Sherlock of the past few days who, in his own particular way Mycroft acknowledges, is trying to woo him again. But his brother’s relative inexperience is telling in the repetition of his early gifts and he had found it all too easy to dismiss the ‘gifts’. The undercurrent of hurt and anger running through Mycroft eased any guilt he may have felt.

Until the other morning when Mycroft walked into his office to find a matching Mycroft-styled teddy bear to the Sherlock-bear he already possessed, sitting in his office chair. The slightly wide-eyed innocent look from Andrea hadn’t fooled him. But Mycroft found himself unable to send this particular gift back to Sherlock and so relented this one time, taking the Mycroft-bear home with him that evening.

And both bears currently sit, side by side, at the corner of his desk – silent, stuffed witnesses to Mycroft as he contemplates the madness that is his life.
