Prompting Part XXXIV

GUIDELINES

  • Anon posting is not required, but most definitely allowed. If you think you recognise an anon, keep it to yourself and don’t out them. IP tracking is off, and will remain that way.

  • Multiple fills are encouraged, and all kinds of fills are accepted! Fic, art, vids, cosplay, interpretive dance — whatever. Go wild! :D

  • Don’t reprompt until TWO parts after the last posting of the prompt.

  • RPF (real person fic, i.e. fic involving the actors themselves) is not supported at this meme.

  • Concrit is welcome, but kinkshaming, hijacking, and flaming are not tolerated.

THE FILLED PROMPTS POST
When you fill a prompt, please use the appropriate Filled Prompts Post to archive your fill (there are instructions on the actual post).

If the part you wanted isn't up yet, just wait and one of the archivists will get to it, but please, once it is up, make sure you post your fills there according to the guidelines. DO NOT skip out on doing this because it seems like too much effort. If you want your fill to make it to the Delicious archive, that’s the way to do it.

Do not be afraid to ask questions about how it works if you are confused! The mods will be happy to explain.

WARNINGS/OFFENSIVE WORDING IN PROMPTS
Please consider warning for prompts that may trigger people (and also for fills, because some people read in flat view) and phrasing prompts in a manner that strives to be respectful.

Things which you might want to consider warning for include: Rape/Non-Con, Death, Suicidal Thoughts, Self-Harm, Underage Relationships, among others.

That being said, this is a kink meme. As such, there will be prompts that could offend you in a number of different ways. Not every prompt will have a trigger warning, and not every prompt will rub you the right way. If you have an issue with a specific prompt, feel free to bring it up in a discussion that takes place off the meme. However, flaming will not be tolerated regardless of origin.

You are highly encouraged to scroll past any prompt that you dislike.

Remember: be civil, be friendly, but don’t be shy!

THINGS THAT MAKE BROWSING THE MEME EASIER FOR EVERYONE
Please nest your fills. Doing so will make it easier for archivists to save your fills to the Delicious archive. Using subject lines will also help people reading the meme in flatview keep track of what’s happening. Finally, titling your fills (even if it’s something silly) will be helpful to those tracking a lot of prompts or scrolling through the meme.

PROMPT FREEZES
Depending on the rate of activity, there may or may not be a prompt freeze when a part reaches 2000 and 4500 comments. However, there will be one when it reaches 7000. After the 7000 comments freeze, a new part will be posted, and all prompting should happen on the new part.

Fill: No Refuge from Memory: 15b/?

Sherlock read the profile of his first target:

David Fernandez:

Born to a wealthy family in Argentina in 1956, he became involved in the radical leftist movement while studying at the University of Buenos Aires. He fled the country in 1976 during the dirty war. He spent some time in Cuba before becoming involved with the FSLN in Nicaragua, then later, the FMLN in El Salvador. In 1981, he had a “crisis of conscience” and cut a deal with the CIA, agreeing to give up intelligence on various leftist leaders in exchange for a plane ticket to the United States. Somehow, as a result of inter-agency horse-trading between the CIA and MI-5, he was sent to the UK instead.

When he arrived in John’s life, he was studying for his master’s degree in Child Psychology. As part of the degree program, he volunteered as a guidance counselor at the secondary school. He scanned the list of students he worked with. John’s name was not on it. Sherlock flipped a few pages. Aha! He also served as an assistant track coach, which was where he came into regular contact with John.

After working at the school for approximately eight months, he left his job, quit his degree program only two months shy of graduation, and moved to London where he became a shoe salesman. He eventually worked his way up to a position in corporate before being laid off a few years later. The rest of his resume consisted of a series of dull office jobs.

Sherlock’s hands shook when he went through the next set of documents. It was an incident report made to the school administration. Fernandez reported that he suspected John was a victim of sexual abuse. Beneath that was a police report, made by Fernandez a week later that contained the same claim.

The police report was more illuminating. Examination by a physician showed contusions on John’s thighs and strange-half healed burns on his genitals. Sherlock flipped a page. John responded that the burns were a bad reaction to a new acne treatment and the bruises came from wrestling with some of his mates. No, John did not remember who.

Sherlock’s knuckles turned white.

The next page was part of a larger stack. It was the school counselor’s therapy notes about John. He skimmed them. The first part was all about the death of John’s mother. He flipped a few pages. His brows shot up. The father lost his medical license due to drug abuse. He flipped further. There wasn’t any hint that John was anything but a brilliant teenage boy who was struggling with the death of his mother and his own sexuality. Traumatic and difficult, yes, but not issues that should trigger repressed memories, not in a man like John.

Something did not quite add up. Fernandez’s previous political involvement almost guaranteed that he was familiar with electrical torture techniques, though whether as a perpetrator or a victim was anybody’s guess. But if he had been the person to harm John, why would he report suspected sexual abuse? It wasn’t logical. Was it attention-seeking behavior? Showing the people whose job it had been to protect John the damage he’d done to his body? He had spent his youth in the center of political turmoil, living in constant fear of arrest, torture, and death. Being a student in England must have been boring by comparison. It certainly all hung together, but Sherlock needed more evidence. It was time to meet David Fernandez.

A/N: Bad news: first, updates for the next two weeks will be sporadic due to RL commitments (I switched the order of some of the later scenes, so they need more rewrites than usual). Good news: the next few parts are going to be longer than usual, so there will be more to read when I do update. In the meantime, thank you for the comments and the love. I read every one and I adore you guys.
