GUIDELINES

Anon posting is not required, but most definitely allowed. If you think you recognise an anon, keep it to yourself and don’t out them. IP tracking is off, and will remain that way.

Multiple fills are encouraged, and all kinds of fills are accepted! Fic, art, vids, cosplay, interpretive dance — whatever. Go wild! :D

Don’t reprompt until TWO parts after the last posting of the prompt.

RPF (real person fic, i.e. fic involving the actors themselves) is not supported at this meme.

Concrit is welcome, but kinkshaming, hijacking, and flaming are not tolerated.

If the part you wanted isn't up yet, just wait and one of the archivists will get to it, but please, once it is up, make sure you post your fills there according to the guidelines. Do not be afraid to ask questions about how it works if you are confused! The mods will be happy to explain.

WARNINGS/OFFENSIVE WORDING IN PROMPTS
Please consider warning for prompts that may trigger people (and also for fills, because some people read in flat view) and phrasing prompts in a manner that strives to be respectful.

Things which you might want to consider warning for include: Rape/Non-Con, Death, Suicidal Thoughts, Self-Harm, Underage Relationships, among others.

That being said, this is a kink meme. As such, there will be prompts that could offend you in a number of different ways. Not every prompt will have a trigger warning, and not every prompt will rub you the right way. If you have an issue with a specific prompt, feel free to bring it up in a discussion that takes place off the meme. However, flaming will not be tolerated regardless of origin.

PROMPT FREEZES
Depending on the rate of activity, there may or may not be a prompt freeze when a part reaches 2000 and 4500 comments. However, there will be one when it reaches 7000. After the 7000 comments freeze, a new part will be posted, and all prompting should happen on the new part.

Mycroft ignores how his fingers tremble as he places Sherlock’s notebook back on his desk. In the still of his study, the room dim in the twilight of early evening, his breathing sounds loud, obnoxious.

In his mind he brings up an image of Sherlock – unkempt, frenetic. While he’s avoided contact with Sherlock, he’s glanced at the brief reports that pass his desk. He knows Sherlock’s not left his flat in days but the last time he did, he looked as though he hadn’t been sleeping. Then again, Mycroft knows the lack of sleep is also showing in his own face.

The last few entries in Sherlock’s notebook – here Mycroft pauses to gather his thoughts, to separate his own hurt feelings from impartial observer – are altered. The tone, the words. The feeling behind each entry.

Could Sherlock be telling the truth – the same truth as when he left Mycroft’s home nearly ten days ago. Mycroft wonders whether it could happen, that such an ill-conceived experiment turn to this.

Perhaps more importantly, to Mycroft, could they actually have a relationship? Sherlock and he – with their squabbles and troubles. The way that they could irritate each other with barely a word spoken. Tempestuous.

Passionate.

He picks up his phone, a simple press of keys and he can hear the line connect. He waits until he hears the familiar deep voice of his brother greet him. Sherlock sounds relieved. “Mycroft? Thank god. We need-“

“Sherlock,” Mycroft interrupts. He needs to maintain the semblance of control for a while longer – if Sherlock knew what he could do to Mycroft then he runs the risk of not making the right choice. Will ruin both their lives. “I’ll send a car to pick you up. The day after tomorrow at seven. We can talk then. Does that work for you?”

His brother doesn’t reply immediately. Mycroft’s hand grow clammy as he counts the heartbeats until Sherlock replies. “Yes,” he agrees in a soft tone. “Mycroft?”

“We’ll talk in a couple of days, Sherlock,” Mycroft repeats, closing his eyes as he imagines how Sherlock looks based only on his tone. The image of his brother that he pulls up, of pale skin and soft lips, causes Mycroft’s breath to hitch. He knows Sherlock heard it too.

“Okay. Two days,” Sherlock confirms. It seems whatever his brother was going to say, he’s changed his mind.

Mycroft doesn’t say anything, just keeps the line open. Sherlock stays on the line too, also quiet. When the silence, bar their soft breathing, stretches too far, Mycroft whispers a final goodbye and disconnects.

He has two days to decide what to do.

AA - last chapter next (although I need to outline it first!) and I am currently debating an epilogue but I'm certainly excited (and a little amazed) that I'm almost at the end!

Woo! As always, it's great to see more. I like the insight into Sherlock's shifting attitude and state of mind from the notebook entries. And Andrea's wide-eyed innocence over the Mycroft bear. Great stuff, anon!

Thank you! My headcanon is that Andrea will always know more about the brothers than she lets on - she's a secret cheerleader because she gets to see Mycroft all alone.
