Prompting Part XXXIV

GUIDELINES

  • Anon posting is not required, but most definitely allowed. If you think you recognise an anon, keep it to yourself and don’t out them. IP tracking is off, and will remain that way.

  • Multiple fills are encouraged, and all kinds of fills are accepted! Fic, art, vids, cosplay, interpretive dance — whatever. Go wild! :D

  • Don’t reprompt until TWO parts after the last posting of the prompt.

  • RPF (real person fic, i.e. fic involving the actors themselves) is not supported at this meme.

  • Concrit is welcome, but kinkshaming, hijacking, and flaming are not tolerated.

THE FILLED PROMPTS POST
When you fill a prompt, please use the appropriate Filled Prompts Post to archive your fill (there are instructions on the actual post).

If the part you wanted isn't up yet, just wait and one of the archivists will get to it, but please, once it is up, make sure you post your fills there according to the guidelines. DO NOT skip out on doing this because it seems like too much effort. If you want your fill to make it to the Delicious archive, that’s the way to do it.

Do not be afraid to ask questions about how it works if you are confused! The mods will be happy to explain.

WARNINGS/OFFENSIVE WORDING IN PROMPTS
Please consider warning for prompts that may trigger people (and also for fills, because some people read in flat view) and phrasing prompts in a manner that strives to be respectful.

Things which you might want to consider warning for include: Rape/Non-Con, Death, Suicidal Thoughts, Self-Harm, Underage Relationships, among others.

That being said, this is a kink meme. As such, there will be prompts that could offend you in a number of different ways. Not every prompt will have a trigger warning, and not every prompt will rub you the right way. If you have an issue with a specific prompt, feel free to bring it up in a discussion that takes place off the meme. However, flaming will not be tolerated regardless of origin.

You are highly encouraged to scroll past any prompt that you dislike.

Remember: be civil, be friendly, but don’t be shy!

THINGS THAT MAKE BROWSING THE MEME EASIER FOR EVERYONE
Please nest your fills. Doing so will make it easier for archivists to save your fills to the Delicious archive. Using subject lines will also help people reading the meme in flatview keep track of what’s happening. Finally, titling your fills (even if it’s something silly) will be helpful to those tracking a lot of prompts or scrolling through the meme.

PROMPT FREEZES
Depending on the rate of activity, there may or may not be a prompt freeze when a part reaches 2000 and 4500 comments. However, there will be one when it reaches 7000. After the 7000 comments freeze, a new part will be posted, and all prompting should happen on the new part.

FILL: Part 7C - All Life is an Experiment (Mycroft/Sherlock)

(Anonymous) 2014-08-06 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
AA - I was starting part 8 but this part really fits into part 7 so I'm adding it to the end as 7C. Apologies this chapter is a little bitty!

Mycroft POV next time.

Day seven cont.: dreams – observation notes

Contrary to expectations, yesterday – Sunday – with Mycroft went better than expected. No arguments (of any real consequence – it is difficult to imagine spending any unit of time with my elder brother without some element of riposte or debate).

Mycroft is adapting to the situation with much more equanimity than I had expected. Although there sufficient occurrences where he is temporarily lost for words or unable to react accordingly to provide additional insight into my brother’s complex mind and behaviours. I do not think I’ve seen Mycroft this bewildered in years.

Of more concern intrigue is a distinct change in my own conduct and thoughts with regards to Mycroft. I had not anticipated such behavioural changes when I originated this experiment and it is a little alarming. Yesterday’s events are evident of this new curiosity.

Mycroft – not being of a mind to much change his usual habits, particularly on a Sunday – took only a little encouragement to accompany me to a well-known part of Lambeth where one of my homeless network – Helen – is known to busk. I had forgotten how much Mycroft loved to listen to me play the violin and although he was slightly uncomfortable with the exposed locale, he enjoyed the pieces. Common though they were.

Afterwards I took him to a little room I keep on Old Compton Street and we spent more than the allotted hour watching the world pass us by, the little people going about in their little lives and played deductions. Our fingers and feet tangled in our haste of make some point or a particular detail to win the point. I noticed how Mycroft smiles – just for a fraction – when I correct him with a deduction. How his eyes narrow when I manage to speak a deduction before him although I still loathe to admit he will have thought of it first.

I enjoyed our afternoon together. Our companionship was … pleasant.

And I am reminded of the start of this experiment. If it can perhaps still be called such a thing. Of that conversation with John. Dear John and his innocent questions. How I exclaimed how I had no desire to spend time with my brother.

I fear that I am being found out a liar.

All this and I have not yet mentioned my dream last night. It was unexpected. Overwhelming.

Desirable.

What will Mycroft think? Will he forgive me and follow me?

If only John had not asked to remain ignorant for I could do with this advice in these foreign matters. Perhaps I shall ask him regardless. As a friend he is obliged to help surely.

Because I find now I realise I cannot stand to lose Mycroft because of this.

OP

Eee, more already! Excellent. Also, poor John. That's going to be a fun conversation...

*g* thank you - poor John indeed. I have this one line in my head I want John to say so much but I won't know if I can until I get to that scene and write it.

But it is a corker of a line!
