THE MEME NEEDS ARCHIVISTS!

GUIDELINES

• Anon posting is not required, but most definitely allowed. If you think you recognise an anon, keep it to yourself and don’t out them. IP tracking is off, and will remain that way.


• Multiple fills are encouraged, and all kinds of fills are accepted! Fic, art, vids, cosplay, interpretive dance — whatever. Go wild! :D


• Don’t reprompt until TWO parts after the last posting of the prompt.


• RPF (real person fic, i.e. fic involving the actors themselves) is not supported at this meme.


• Concrit is welcome, but kinkshaming, hijacking, and flaming are not tolerated.

If the part you wanted isn't up yet, just wait and one of the archivists will get to it, but please, once it is up, make sure you post your fills there according to the guidelines. DO NOT skip out on doing this because it seems like too much effort. If you want your fill to make it to the Delicious archive, that’s the way to do it.

Do not be afraid to ask questions about how it works if you are confused! The mods will be happy to explain.

WARNINGS/OFFENSIVE WORDING IN PROMPTS
Please consider warning for prompts that may trigger people (and also for fills, because some people read in flat view) and phrasing prompts in a manner that strives to be respectful.

Things which you might want to consider warning for include: Rape/Non-Con, Death, Suicidal Thoughts, Self-Harm, Underage Relationships, among others.

That being said, this is a kink meme. As such, there will be prompts that could offend you in a number of different ways. Not every prompt will have a trigger warning, and not every prompt will rub you the right way. If you have an issue with a specific prompt, feel free to bring it up in a discussion that takes place off the meme. However, flaming will not be tolerated regardless of origin.

You are highly encouraged to scroll past any prompt that you dislike.

THINGS THAT MAKE BROWSING THE MEME EASIER FOR EVERYONE
Please nest your fills. Doing so will make it easier for archivists to save your fills to the Delicious archive. Using subject lines will also help people reading the meme in flatview keep track of what’s happening. Finally, titling your fills (even if it’s something silly) will be helpful to those tracking a lot of prompts or scrolling through the meme.

PROMPT FREEZES
Depending on the rate of activity, there may or may not be a prompt freeze when a part reaches 2000 and 4500 comments. However, there will be one when it reaches 7000. After the 7000 comments freeze, a new part will be posted, and all prompting should happen on the new part.

Fill: No Refuge from Memory: 21c/22

Sherlock gazed into the distance, his expression pensive. “You might be able to get away with it, if the man’s death is ruled a suicide or overdose. If it is ruled a homicide, you are done for.”

“So what do we do? Wait and hope?” he asked.

He shook his head, not looking at John, “No. Your freedom is not something I’m willing to gamble on. I’m going to call Mycroft and make a deal.”

“A deal?”

Sherlock sighed. “I’ll give Mycroft something he wants. In return, he’ll make sure that Statham’s death is ruled accidental.”

“What will Mycroft ask for?”

“What he always asks for: time. A favor of this magnitude will probably cost me six months.”

“Six months of working for Mycroft? ” John was incredulous. “Can’t we wait and see what happens before we do anything rash?”

“If Statham’s death is declared a homicide, it will become impossible to put the cat back in the bag. At that point, Mycroft’s only option will be to frame some poor innocent for the crime.”

“I can’t let him do that.”

“Of course, which is why I am going to make a deal with Mycroft now.”

John felt a twisting in his chest. Bitter, dark self-loathing enveloped him. “You shouldn’t have to pay the price for my crime. I’ll ask Mycroft.”

“You don’t have anything he wants.” Sherlock replied, gently touching his shoulder. “You’ve spent your entire life taking care of others and bearing their burdens. Please allow me to bear this one burden for you.”

John looked up at him, eyes damp with unshed tears. “It’s not right.”

Sherlock took both his hands, “There are a lot of things in this world that aren’t right. It’s not right that your mother died when you were a child. It’s not right that your father and counselor abused you. It’s not right that your true self was hidden for decades. It’s not right that the horrors from your past are causing you so much pain now. You’ve spent your entire life saving people. You saved your sister, you’ve saved other soldiers, you saved me in more ways than I can count. Now, let me save you by doing this one little thing.”

John caved. His shoulders sagged and his face went slack and haggard. “Very well.” He replied.

Sherlock squeezed his hands then slowly, tentatively reached up and caressed his cheek. John’s heart swelled with agony, affection, and need.

“I love you so much. I can’t bear for you to do this.” The words tripped unbidden from John’s lips.

Sherlock froze, shock stiffening his body. John realized that although he had hinted at it many times, this was the first time the words, “I love you” had crossed his lips.

Long seconds passed before Sherlock replied, “Thank you. I am very happy to hear that.” A goofy grin spread across his lips as he caught the back of John’s head and gently pulled him close for a kiss.

Mycroft was a better negotiator than Sherlock predicted. In exchange for getting John off the hook for murder, he would be required to spend eight months dismantling an organized crime syndicate in Belarus. He would have to go deep undercover. There would be no contact with anyone back home until the mission was complete.

With a conscious effort, he quashed the voice in his head that told him John would move on, find a woman during the months they would be forced to spend apart. Other than some kissing and cuddling, they hadn’t been intimate since John’s latest revelations. Memories were still returning and it would take John some time to deal with their emotional ramifications. His therapist believed that so long as John received emotional support from other sources, putting some distance between the two of them while he sorted out his emotional problems wasn’t altogether a bad thing.

John would have that support while he was gone. He had put Molly, Lestrade, Mycroft, Mrs. Hudson, and Harry on a rotating schedule of visits to ensure that he never grew lonely. He pushed aside a twinge of anxiety about John falling in love with sweet, perceptive Molly. He took a deep breath. He would have to trust that John loved him enough to wait for him. In the meantime though, it wouldn’t hurt to give Molly a lecture on the dire fates that awaited those who didn’t keep their mitts off his man.
