Prompting Part XXXIV

GUIDELINES

  • Anon posting is not required, but most definitely allowed. If you think you recognise an anon, keep it to yourself and don’t out them. IP tracking is off, and will remain that way.

  • Multiple fills are encouraged, and all kinds of fills are accepted! Fic, art, vids, cosplay, interpretive dance — whatever. Go wild! :D

  • Don’t reprompt until TWO parts after the last posting of the prompt.

  • RPF (real person fic, i.e. fic involving the actors themselves) is not supported at this meme.

  • Concrit is welcome, but kinkshaming, hijacking, and flaming are not tolerated.

THE FILLED PROMPTS POST
When you fill a prompt, please use the appropriate Filled Prompts Post to archive your fill (there are instructions on the actual post).

If the part you wanted isn't up yet, just wait and one of the archivists will get to it, but please, once it is up, make sure you post your fills there according to the guidelines. DO NOT skip out on doing this because it seems like too much effort. If you want your fill to make it to the Delicious archive, that’s the way to do it.

Do not be afraid to ask questions about how it works if you are confused! The mods will be happy to explain.

WARNINGS/OFFENSIVE WORDING IN PROMPTS
Please consider warning for prompts that may trigger people (and also for fills, because some people read in flat view) and phrasing prompts in a manner that strives to be respectful.

Things which you might want to consider warning for include: Rape/Non-Con, Death, Suicidal Thoughts, Self-Harm, Underage Relationships, among others.

That being said, this is a kink meme. As such, there will be prompts that could offend you in a number of different ways. Not every prompt will have a trigger warning, and not every prompt will rub you the right way. If you have an issue with a specific prompt, feel free to bring it up in a discussion that takes place off the meme. However, flaming will not be tolerated regardless of origin.

You are highly encouraged to scroll past any prompt that you dislike.

Remember: be civil, be friendly, but don’t be shy!

THINGS THAT MAKE BROWSING THE MEME EASIER FOR EVERYONE
Please nest your fills. Doing so will make it easier for archivists to save your fills to the Delicious archive. Using subject lines will also help people reading the meme in flatview keep track of what’s happening. Finally, titling your fills (even if it’s something silly) will be helpful to those tracking a lot of prompts or scrolling through the meme.

PROMPT FREEZES
Depending on the rate of activity, there may or may not be a prompt freeze when a part reaches 2000 and 4500 comments. However, there will be one when it reaches 7000. After the 7000 comments freeze, a new part will be posted, and all prompting should happen on the new part.

Re: NONCON: johnlock by moriarty's orders...but sherlock doesn't let him do it.

Second (possibly third?) potential filler here. This prompt is so tempting. My take on this would incorporate a pre-slash element. Thus, in addition to not wanting to saddle John with guilt out of genuine concern for him, Sherlock would have a somewhat self-interested wish not to have his future prospects with John spoiled. Sherlock would want his first time with John to occur completely on their own terms. So, he'd be single-mindedly focused on preventing Moriarty from triumphing in the way he wants to triumph (i.e., by sabotaging Sherlock's relationship with John), even if it comes at the cost of causing John greater distress. Also, I personally cannot see myself writing John as panicking or breaking down in this situation, given his military background, so I'd have him be angry: angry enough at Moriarty that he wants to kill him, angry at himself for being powerless (Moriarty is also threatening their lives, i.e., if John tries to stop him from having his way with Sherlock, he'll kill them both), and angry at Sherlock for apparently not trusting him enough to get them out of this.

Not the OP but I really like the additions you made and hope this will be written :)

I think it is just two... as both posts above are mine. I'm headed in an unspoken pre-slash direction as well, which I wanted to run past OP. My John isn't quite broken down, but is very guilt-ridden. My Sherlock is not entirely sociopathic either, just overly stoic. If OP wants those aspects, I am happy to continue on my AO3 and cede the prompt to you here. If not, it would be really fun to see where we are similar and where we differ, as I think we might be interpreting it roughly the same way... if it's ok with you and OP. (I won't read a word of your fill while it's in process, but would love to read it afterwards!) Last time I saw this happen there were three outstanding fills at the end. Glad someone else is thinking of taking it on, because OP has even better chance to get what they want. It's a great prompt, and it pushed me into my first non-con piece.

New anon greatly looks forward to both your fills!

I don't intend to write Sherlock as sociopathic because I wouldn't know how to handle that characterization in this scenario. I envision Sherlock as being detached from and pragmatic about the situation as a matter of survival; tamping down his fear, anger, etc. because it's the only way for him to endure it, and he doesn't want to give Moriarty the satisfaction of seeing him break. So, inwardly, he'd be experiencing fear, anger, humiliation, etc., but he'd be keeping those emotions under tight control and doing everything not to show them. And of course that would entail largely shutting off John's concern for him and ignoring John's wishes pertaining to the situation. Because Sherlock's primary concern would be ensuring that they both got out of the situation alive.

OP: if the sociopathic characterization is a dealbreaker for you, please let me know, and I'll leave this prompt for others.

Anon #1: I don't have a problem with you writing your own fill even if our interpretations of the prompt are similar. For one thing, you technically expressed an interest in it before I did, so it could be argued that you've got more of a claim to it than me. Moreover, though, we're each going to execute our fills in our own unique ways. I also don't post fills until they are complete. I'm not planning an extended WIP, just a vignette/one-shot, maybe with a coda to show the fallout.

Anon 2, this is Anon 1 here. I have essentially the same questions for OP, and if they are cool with our variations I look forward to this double fill!

since we have two fillers I'd love to also see this one, a sherlock just tamping emotinos down. Be very fun to see the comparison between sherlock in the two fills ^_^

oooh, interesting. OP here- pre slash is fine by me. As is john not-broken. (I just like the idea that sherlock assumes JOhn would be guilt ridden had sherlock let him go through with being the one to assault him, thus, yeah.) So long as sherlock puts john's potential guilt/etc in mind as teh reason he refuses to let John do it despite knowing that means itl'l be the less gentle moriarty, and as long as he's more focused on how John will take things than himself (seeing himself as able to handle things easily / perhaps more annoyed or angry than distressed) I'm fine with it. I definitely like whichever of the potential fillers suggested Sherlock not wanting to ruin the pre-romantic period / mess things up with john since tbh that fits my sherlock headcanon- he WOULD use logic even in a situation like tht (rather than "well how do I get off the easiest now without harm", oh no, he's thinking of what he wants down the line. So sherlock).

Anon 2 here: Would Moriarty trying to toy with Sherlock and John's heads be okay with you? It wouldn't be effective on Sherlock (or at least he would be doing everything in his power not to let on that it is), and this non-reaction would only serve to annoy Moriarty further, and make him intensify his efforts to get the kind of reaction he wants from Sherlock.
