Filling Fest!
The Filling Fest Is Over. Thanks for everyone who participated!
Thanks to everyone who voted and shared their input. It really helped us figure out how things will go.
The fest will focus on prompts from Parts VI-VII (for those who want to fill prompts from the earlier days of the meme), and Parts XXIV-XXV (for those who want to revisit prompts from right after series two was aired. If you want to use the Filled Prompt Posts to browse through prompts, Part VI starts here, and Part XXIV starts here.
1. For the next three days, you can browse through those four parts and nominate prompts you’d like to see filled. Please include the full prompt and the link to the original prompt in your nomination. Those three days are for nominations only; don’t start posting your fills until this period is over.
2. After those three days, the nomination period will end and the filling period will begin. If you’re inspired by a nominated prompt, that’s great. If you prefer to look through those four parts and fill something that catches your eye, that’s great too. The filling period will last for two weeks.
3. All kinds of fills are welcome, as are multiple fills.
4. Anon posting is allowed, but not required.
5. Nominations without the link to the original prompt will be deleted. Same for nominations from parts other than VI, VII, XXIV and XXV.
6. Only post new fills that you haven’t posted anywhere before. If you have a WIP from one of those parts that’s gathering dust on your hard drive, it’s fine to post it, but only if you never started posting it.
7. Post your fill in this thread, but link to your fill in the original post (or in the Overflow post if the original post is full).
8. Please consider warning for triggery prompts (and also for fills, because some people read in flat view) and phrasing prompts in a manner that strives to be respectful. Things which you might want to consider warning for include: Rape/Non-Con, Death, Suicidal Thoughts, Self-Harm, Underage Relationships, among others.
9. If you have questions, please ask in the appropriate thread in this post.
One last thing: have fun!
The filling period will end on Saturday May 19th around 20:00 GMT.
Post your fill as a direct reply to THIS THREAD and please include the original prompt (or a summary of the prompt).
Wrong Number - 5e
(Anonymous) 2012-06-26 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)What the hell do you want?
(23:12)
What is your connection to
Sherlock?
M
(23:13)
I barely know him. I’ve never
even met him. Why do you
ask?
(23:13)
I am very interested in the
company he keeps.
M
(23:14)
There’s no need to be worried;
we’re just texting, that’s all.
(23:14)
Not that it’s any of your
business.
(23:15)
The texting doesn’t worry me.
My brother texts a lot, in fact,
he prefers it.
M
(23:16)
Texting during dinner when
he doesn’t have a case,
smiling at his screen as he
responds, and sending
pictures for someone else’s
amusement: those are things
my brother does not do.
M
(23:17)
I still don’t see how any of
this concerns you.
(23:18)
If it concerns my brother, it
concerns me.
M
(23:18)
I’ll be in touch.
M
(…)
(23:20)
Your brother is the creepiest
person in Britain.
(23:21)
What did he do?
SH
(23:21)
He texted me to ask what
my intentions were. I don’t
know how he did it, but he
knew personal things about
me.
(…)
(23:21)
Stop texting John!
SH
(23:23)
Who I text is none of your
business.
M
(23:23)
I could say the same to you!
SH
(23:24)
Stop trying to interfere! This
doesn’t concern you.
SH
(23:26)
How can you regularly text
someone you don’t know?
You’re being very reckless.
M
(23:26)
And you’re being very
annoying.
SH
(23:27)
Be careful, Sherlock.
M
(23:27)
Piss off, Mycroft!
SH
(…)
(23:28)
Tell me if he bothers you
again; he has the habit of
interfering where he’s not
welcome.
SH
(23:29)
I think he got access to my
medical record.
(23:30)
I’m sure he did.
SH
(23:30)
Wow, that’s creepy.
(23:30)
That’s my brother.
SH
(23:31)
How did he do it?
(23:32)
He’s the British government.
He has access to everyone’s
files.
SH
(23:33)
Is he dangerous?
(23:34)
Not dangerous, no. He does
enjoy using his position to
pretend he’s intimidating.
SH
(23:35)
Wow. And I thought my
family was strange.
(23:35)
You’ve seen nothing.
SH
(23:39)
Why haven’t we met yet?
(23:40)
I thought about it.
SH
(23:40)
And?
(23:41)
I have enemies.
SH
(23:42)
With your charming
disposition? Who would have
thought? ;)
(23:42)
Drunk again, John?
SH
(23:42)
Ha ha. Funny.
(23:43)
I’m not one of your enemies,
I hope you know that.
(23:44)
Yes, of course I do.
SH
(23:45)
However, my enemies are not
above targeting the people
around me to get to me.
SH
(23:47)
Just so you know, what
you’re saying does nothing to
convince me you’re not living
in a Bond movie.
(23:47)
I’m not kidding. My landlady
got kidnapped and strapped
to semtex.
SH
(23:48)
Poor woman, that’s horrible.
(23:49)
The person who did this is
very intelligent. As long as
we’re just texting, he can’t
find out. If we’re seen
together, he’ll come after you.
SH
(20:49)
Is this your perfect opponent?
(20:49)
Yes.
SH
(20:50)
Sherlock, I was a soldier. I’m
a doctor. Believe me when I
say I can take care of myself.
(23:51)
I’m sure you can. But I can’t
risk it.
SH
(23:51)
Fine.
(23:53)
Are you angry with me again?
SH
(23:54)
No. Bit disappointed, that’s
all.
(23:56)
I wish I could be part of your
adventures.
(23:56)
I don’t have adventures,
John.
SH
(23:57)
Yeah, you do. I suppose I’ll
have to live vicariously
through your texts.
(23:58)
But if you ever need an
assistant, I think a doctor
who knows how to fight
would be a great candidate.
(23:58)
I’ll keep that in mind.
SH
(23:59)
I’m going to bed. Good night.
(23:59)
Good night.

Wrong Number - Author's Notes
(Anonymous) 2012-06-26 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)There was quite a bit of music in this chapter, and here’s the one Sherlock played while John was at Speedy’s: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7rxl5KsPjs
If some of you want to offer concrit, I would be delighted. I’m particularly interested in two things: the way Sherlock and John handled their conflict (by talking about it as little as possible), and Sherlock’s giddiness when John started texting him again (which I tried to show during his family dinner). But seriously, any input on the characterisation will make me very happy. In fact, your input on anything that will help me make this story better will make me happy :-)

(Anonymous) 2012-06-27 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)That would be an awful ending, don't you think? I don't think I could ever do that. I'm still not 100% sure where I'm going with this story, but I was thinking of stopping after The Empty House, because I would like to explore what the hiatus would be like in this universe.
I can almost guarantee a happy ending, though ;-)

(Anonymous) 2012-06-27 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)I liked the whole conflict bit a lot. I like that Sherlock is kind of a dick and that John didn't forgive him instantly. And I loooove that it was hearing the violin music that made John realize he misses Sherlock.
BUT OH MY GOD THE UNSENT MESSAGE I AM DEAD.
Re: Wrong Number - Author's Notes
(Anonymous) 2012-06-27 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)I'm very glad you enjoyed it, especially the unsent message! I was unsure of that, so it's good that you liked it!
John was dating again, so soon after his breakup, so of course Sherlock was going to be sulky and dickish. Apparently that's a good reason to be a dick ;-)
Re: Wrong Number - Author's Notes
Lol, I realised too late that I posted this response in the wrong place. So I hope this reaches you Anonymous author.
Re: Wrong Number - Author's Notes
I laughed out loud at the pictures - adorable and delightful. Don't worry, author anon, I'll be around as long as you'll be around; I love this story.
(ps what other fill are you doing, if you don't mind me asking?)

(Anonymous) 2012-07-24 03:31 am (UTC)(link)Re: Wrong Number - Author's Notes
I'm totally sorry that I can't really give you concrit; I'm not a very good writer in general, and I only jumped into this fandom today. *lol* Yes, this is my very first Sherlock fanfic, and obviously I have a good instinct for finding the fics that'll make me giddy.
Anyways: This was exactly what I was looking for, what I imagined a Sherlock fic to be. The boys are so perfectly themselves! (<- sorry if this is wrong grammar, I'm not a native speaker ;) )
I love the dynamics you display (and am totally flabberghasted that one can make so much happen in only text messages!), and I can't wait for them to meet!
Awesome fanfic, thank you! <3
I'll be looking out for an update. Please keep writing on this! <3
Re: Wrong Number - Author's Notes - hello
(Anonymous) 2012-10-29 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)Re: Wrong Number - Author's Notes
Or if you HAVE continued and/or posted it non-anon elsewhere, that would be both amazing and enormously helpful because I just KNOW that I'll never manage to remember to come back and check for updates here :)
Well, I'm keeping my fingers crossed at least! You've got the characters down so well and it's just plain awesome :D

I felt so invested while reading and it was absolutely devastating to reach the end and see it's not finished :( I know chances of you seeing this comment are minimal, but in case you continued this fic somewhere else, it would be brilliant if you'd share the link! I bet there are more people who'd be really glad to see it finished! But thank you so much for writing as much as you did and sharing it with us! The journey was amazing!
Re: Wrong Number - 5e
This part was brilliant! I love that you've brought Mycroft into it. And the bit where they fell out and John heard the violin was lovely.

Re: Wrong Number - 5e
(Anonymous) 2012-06-27 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)I had to bring Mycroft into it somehow; I loved how he texted in the second series.
I'm glad you enjoyed the part with the violin. I had the idea. but I didn't know how to write it in texts only, so I had to use the unsent text technique, which I may use again in the future.
Thank you for your comment; it means a lot :-)
Re: Wrong Number - 5e
I hope you haven't given up on this piece because it's clearly one of the best ones out there, definitely one of the best Sherlock fics I've read. If you ever come back to it, you definitely have a willing and eager reader waiting here!
Re: Wrong Number - 5e
(Anonymous) 2012-08-19 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)I'm happy you read it, even if you had to stay up late to do so. I'm also very, very happy you liked it. Don't worry, I haven't given up. I'm splitting my writing time between this fic and another one, so it could take a little while before the next update, but I still have a lot of ideas.

(Anonymous) 2012-10-23 05:32 pm (UTC)(link)Oh my godddd *this*
I fucking love this, it's amazing! The character (of both of them) and how Sherlock actually, already, cares so much about John he's actually putting his needs (which doesn't happen) before his own. My godddd I can't even start describing this, some parts got me cracking up, some sobbing 'nooo's into my screen.
I love it! Please keep it up!
