What show were you watching?

Sometimes I get the feeling people haven't actually watched the show.

Sherlock didn't live in Bakerstreet before he met John. John doesn't have any problems with hitting people for saying something negative. Sherlock going to Molly for assistance with lab work didn't come out of the blue. Lestrade and Mycroft know each other.

And there are so many more, simple things that are undeniably canon and still people get them wrong.

OP here, the worst thing about this? There are several stories that have one or many of these things.

The thing that sent me over the edge was somebody saying John was far to awesome to break somebody's nose.

I could see maybe the CSI aspect seeming rather new, and someone taking "I don't just do what your brother tells me" as straight-up denial.

But it's not exactly a chore to go back and have a look, is it?

Sometimes, even when I like the fic, I don't know if I and the author have the same show in mind.

Lestrade and Mycroft know each other.

Wait, I must have missed something. I know Lestrade knows who Mycroft is but I never noticed anything about them actually knowing each other.

Another possible interpretation of events:
Lestrade got a message from someone at the military base (Mycroft's assistant) that Sherlock Holmes had been apprehended and needed to be taken away from the area for his own safety. Lestrade immediately thought "oh crap". He had a few more days leave, so he took them, citing marriage issues. As soon as Sherlock mentioned Mycroft, though, he realised he'd been played. Hence the bitterness and the denial.

Obviously my headcanon is somewhere in between this and fanon's determination that they discussed it in between having sex.

What you get out of this is that Mycroft has been tricking Lestrade to be Sherlock's "handler" many times before by text and they never met on those six years. Ok.

Yeah, same here. I've watched everything multiple times and haven't noticed this. Are we referring to Lestrade being sent by Mycroft to watch Sherlock in HOUN?
