Of course it's legal to own and play Region 1 DVDs.

You aren't owed content at precisely the same time it's available in the original market. I honestly don't care what other people decide to do about downloading, but don't act like the problem is the content isn't legally available to you for months and months. It's available within a few weeks. The problem is that you aren't willing to wait more than a few hours for that content, and so you're making a choice to acquire it illegally.

I don't say the content is owed to me, just that given my level of fannish involvement it's not realistic to expect that I'll wait for legal means to get it. I'd do anything short of knocking down old ladies to have it within a day or two of its release and if that makes me a lawbreaker or a bad person then so be it. Your telling me I shouldn't isn't going to make a bit of difference.

Maybe Sherlock is but don't assumed it's the same for every show. In the UK, we are 2 years behind Burn Notice.
