Polyamory works for some people, but monogamy is still much more common because people get jealous, like to feel important, and tend to want to a one-on-one commitment before they take the risk of having a family or financial entanglements. It's just fundamentally different than loving children or family. There are no trust or jealousy issues when it comes to having multiple kids.
