If we don't get a s3, this will be my new headcanon (WARNING, SPOILERS)

I've read ACD's The Final Problem and The Empty House more times than I can count so I know what happens, but if we will never get a s3 for this or that reason my headcanon is already entertaining this idea: the very last shot of Sherlock watching John walk away from his tomb from his hidden spot among the trees.

Canon: that's Sherlock Holmes in flesh and bones, alive and well and ready to kick Moriarty's criminal network in the balls.

Headcanon if s3 doesn't happen: that's Sherlock's ghost, watching over John and Mrs Hudson and Lestrade and Molly and everybody else.

Headcanon is making it all much more heartbreaking. Although it could mean Moriarty's ghost is roaming free as well, imagine the glorious ghostly battles of wits.



Now for the rant, directed to a very specific person: I know canon, thank you very much, I know Sherlock's not dead. Stop saying the idea I'm entertaining about Sherlock being a ghost in that last shot is only what idiots who haven't read ACD canon think. I'm just having fun, for fuck's sake, stop ruining it.

I just read the news on twitter, oh this is great news! :D

But it still doesn't justify the person who's telling me it's stupid to imagine Sherlock as a ghost in that last shot: so many people have done crazy crazy theories and headcanons and AU plots for fics with ghosts, mutants, aliens, tentacles, vampires, werewolves, zombies, wizards, hell I even remember one where they were all sentient sex toys. In one of my headcanons I like to think Sherlock really died and that was his ghost, so what? I'm just having fun here, mixing different genres and ideas together: there's a lot of people who do that, maybe to think of a plot for a fic or something, and there's also a lot of people who prfer thinking of theories and plots for fics without using the "easy explanation" of ghosts and supernatural excuses, either way to go about it is absolutely fine. But I think it's hugely ridiculous and unfair that those people might insult me for having fun.

If you want to stick to canon that's absolutely fine, there's plenty of fun to be had while thinking about what could happen next in a realistic way without ghosts. All I aske for was to not be insulted because I like having fun while thinking about possible resolutions involving supernatural stuff.

I have a friend who's doing this, and I want to shake him and tell him to stop being the Stop Having Fun guy. So annoying.

Annoying indeed. We know it's not going to happen, but why shouldn't we have fun making up crazy unrealistic stuff? It's fun, we don't need any more reasons than that! :)
