This is the new prompting post for the Sherlock Prompting Meme. Prompts from LJ can still be filled there with links here or filled here in the new overflow post.

GUIDELINES

Anon posting is not required, but most definitely allowed. If you think you recognise an anon, keep it to yourself and don’t out them. IP tracking is off, and will remain that way.

Multiple fills are encouraged, and all kinds of fills are accepted! Fic, art, vids, cosplay, interpretive dance — whatever. Go wild! :D

Please do not re-post prompts unless the last time they were prompted was on an older part. Simply put: ONE posting of each prompt per part.

RPF (real person fic, i.e. fic involving the actors themselves) is not supported at this meme.

Concrit is welcome but kinkshaming, hijacking, and flaming are not tolerated.

If the part you wanted isn't up yet, just wait and one of the archivists will get to it, but please, once it is up, make sure you post your fills there according to the guidelines. DO NOT skip out on doing this because it seems like too much effort. If you want your fill to make it to the Delicious archive, that’s the way to do it.

Do not be afraid to ask questions about how it works if you are confused! The mods will be happy to explain.

WARNINGS/OFFENSIVE WORDING IN PROMPTS
Please consider warning for prompts that may trigger people (and also for fills, because some people read in flat view) and phrasing prompts in a manner that strives to be respectful.

Things which you might want to consider warning for include: Rape/Non-Con, Death, Suicidal Thoughts, Self-Harm, Underage Relationships, among others.

That being said, this is a kink meme. As such, there will be prompts that could offend you in a number of different ways. Not every prompt will have a trigger warning, and not every prompt will rub you the right way. If you have an issue with a specific prompt, feel free to bring it up in a discussion that takes place off the meme. However, flaming will not be tolerated regardless of origin.

You are highly encouraged to scroll past any prompt that you dislike.

PROMPT FREEZES
Depending on the rate of activity, there may or may not be a prompt freeze when a part reaches 2000 and 4500 comments. However, there will be one when it reaches 7000. After the 7000 comments freeze, a new part will be posted, and all prompting should happen on the new part.

Ever since Sherlock's 'return from the dead', John has never been quite the same with Sherlock. Sure it looks like they are still BFFs but Sherlock knows different. John does not fully trust him any more and as much as Sherlock wants to deny it, that hurts.

Sherlock has tried in his own way to make amends, including pushing his own feelings for John away so John and Mary can be happy, but the mistrust, and even a touch of resentment lingers. So Sherlock slowly, carefully stops trying to be so 'Sherlock-y', but even so, he still seems to annoy people.

When Sherlock meets Magnussen, a man he despises more than even Moriarty, Magnussen is able to exploit a rarely found weakness in Sherlock. He blackmails Sherlock into regular sex sessions (usually at Appledore) in order to leave John alone - and not expose Mary's past, because John deserves happiness. Sherlock tries to convince himself it is worth it, that sex doesn't bother him, that Magnussen's touch, and worse, his kisses doesn't repulse and terrify him, and it really doesn't matter that Sherlock has lost his virginity Magnussen, and Sherlock can endure the pain of Magnussen's touch.

But Sherlock should know no secret can be held forever, not when you have a brother who is the British Government, makes it his business to inform a certain former army doctor.

It turns out John takes a *very* different view to Sherlock over this blackmail...

The hospital at three in the morning was almost completely silent. What little sound there was filtered sluggishly through Sherlock’s morphine-slow brain- the tapping of the night nurse at the keyboard, footsteps passing up and down the corridor. Sherlock lay awake, staring at the ceiling, unable to sleep, turning over in his head his most recent interaction with the woman known as Mary Morstan.

John had been with him for hours, sitting with him, chatting to Sherlock as Sherlock watched, unable to respond, to laugh or smile or speak. Unfazed by this, John, wonderful John, had continued to talk, filling the deathly hospital silence with his voice. Now, though, he was gone. He’d gone down to the canteen to get himself a drink, leaving his wife in charge of watching over Sherlock. His wife, who’d shot Sherlock mere hours ago. His wife, who was now alone with a helpless Sherlock. She could do anything, and he’d be too drugged up to resist.

She came up close, her face looming large above his. The smell of Claire-de-la-lune filled his nostrils. “Sherlock.” She whispered. He gazed up at her, her face coming in and out of focus as adrenaline fought against morphine. “You don’t tell John.” She told him. “Whatever happens, you don’t tell John.” With enormous effort, Sherlock managed to wriggle his eyebrows, a silent expression of ‘Why shouldn’t I?’.

She sighed, sitting down in a chair next to Sherlock. “Because John is a good man. And I am not a good woman. I am not the woman he deserves. But he is also a deeply loyal man. He made his vows, and he will keep them. Even if you tell him, he will. And that is why you shouldn’t. Now, he is happy. With me, with our life. Do you really want to rip that away? It won’t bring him back to you. You’ll only hurt him. You understand, don’t you? We’re the same in that way. We hide the dark parts of ourselves because John deserves only the best.”

Sherlock watched her silently. She stood, shouldering her purse. “You love him just as much as I do. I know you’ll make the right choice.”

Right on cue, John came back into the room, carrying a cardboard cup of coffee in one hand. Mary turned, smiling brightly at John. “John, you’re back!” She said cheerfully. “I don’t know how you do this, it’s like talking to a corpse. Well, I’ve got to get home. I’ll see you tonight, yes?”

“Mm, see you tonight.” John agreed. Though Sherlock’s eyes were closed, he could still hear the soft smack of John’s lips against Mary’s cheek.

The door gave a soft click as the latch caught, and Sherlock opened his eyes, breathing out a slow sigh of relief when he saw that he was once more alone with John. John sat down in the seat, and began to talk, telling Sherlock a funny story he’d overheard while lining up for his coffee. Sherlock watched John, relieved and comforted by his presence. He saved the thoughts of what he was going to do for later.

((So that's the beginning! No Magnussen yet, but he'll appear in the next update. Also, this is gonna be Trans!Sherlock because I love Trans!Sherlock a lot. This is also posted on Ao3, link below. I'll be posting exclusively on there from now on, unless anyone has strong objections. It's open to anyone, not locked to Ao3 members.))

TBH I think this qualifies as hijacking the prompt. You have no idea whether the prompter has any interest in reading about Sherlock as a trans character, and if you were going to reimagine the character in such an important way then you should have flagged your intention up front rather than at the end of yoru post, when readers might already be invested. It's really obnoxious to turn the prompter's wish into your own issuefic.

Filler here. Frankly, the fact that you think writing Sherlock as trans requires a huge, up-front 'trigger warning' is incredibly transphobic. When a prompt is filled, there are going to be elements that are not laid out in the prompt, which makes sense, because if the prompter wanted to micromanage the story like that, then they might as well just write the damn thing themselves. OP didn't write 'Sherlock MUST be cis', nor is Sherlock even explicitly cis in canon. Furthermore, having a trans character, even a trans main character, does not make something an 'issuefic', just the same as him being gay doesn't make it an 'issuefic' about gay people. It's not as though I pretended to fill the prompt and then wrote something completely different. To put this into a real life context, it's like someone invited you to a party, and when you turn up you find that trans people have also been invited, you throw a hissy fit and insist that you should have been warned that there would be trans people before you bought a present and travelled all the way to the party- it's fucking childish, and incredibly transphobic. So, in conclusion: fuck off.

Honestly, attacking someone who wants to write Sherlock as trans like it's some big let-down to the 'readers that might already be invested' just sounds like you're projecting your own distaste of not being 'warned' a trans character might exist in the narrative. There's plenty of canon compliant reasons why Sherlock might be trans (http://december1963.tumblr.com/tagged/trans-sherlock) more so than cis. It's no different to writing a fic with 'no flagged intention' where Sherlock happens to have scarring from working in the field for three years. A headcanon people often add! Not actually official canon!

'Issuefic'? Please, for your own benefit, go and reflect on why you think of trans people this way. Are trans people such an issue to you?

Not OP. But holy shit, thanks for linking that meta post. Now I need to read a trans!Sherlock fic that incorporates the line "Nothing made me. I made me." Reminds me a lot of a trans!Aladdin fic I once read. Just such a wonderful interpretation of canon. <3
