Prompting Part XXXVII

This is the new prompting post for the Sherlock Prompting Meme. Prompts from LJ can still be filled there with links here or filled here in the new overflow post.

  • Anon posting is not required, but most definitely allowed. If you think you recognise an anon, keep it to yourself and don’t out them. IP tracking is off, and will remain that way.

  • Multiple fills are encouraged, and all kinds of fills are accepted! Fic, art, vids, cosplay, interpretive dance — whatever. Go wild! :D

  • Please do not re-post prompts unless the last time they were prompted was on an older part. Simply put: ONE posting of each prompt per part.

  • RPF (real person fic, i.e. fic involving the actors themselves) is not supported at this meme.

  • Concrit is welcome but kinkshaming, hijacking, and flaming are not tolerated.

When you fill a prompt, please use the appropriate Filled Prompts Post to archive your fill (there are instructions on the actual post).

If the part you wanted isn't up yet, just wait and one of the archivists will get to it, but please, once it is up, make sure you post your fills there according to the guidelines. DO NOT skip out on doing this because it seems like too much effort. If you want your fill to make it to the Delicious archive, that’s the way to do it.

Do not be afraid to ask questions about how it works if you are confused! The mods will be happy to explain.

Please consider warning for prompts that may trigger people (and also for fills, because some people read in flat view) and phrasing prompts in a manner that strives to be respectful.

Things which you might want to consider warning for include: Rape/Non-Con, Death, Suicidal Thoughts, Self-Harm, Underage Relationships, among others.

That being said, this is a kink meme. As such, there will be prompts that could offend you in a number of different ways. Not every prompt will have a trigger warning, and not every prompt will rub you the right way. If you have an issue with a specific prompt, feel free to bring it up in a discussion that takes place off the meme. However, flaming will not be tolerated regardless of origin.

You are highly encouraged to scroll past any prompt that you dislike.

Remember: be civil, be friendly, but don’t be shy!

Please nest your fills. Doing so will make it easier for archivists to save your fills to the Delicious archive. Using subject lines will also help people reading the meme in flatview keep track of what’s happening. Finally, titling your fills (even if it’s something silly) will be helpful to those tracking a lot of prompts or scrolling through the meme.

Depending on the rate of activity, there may or may not be a prompt freeze when a part reaches 2000 and 4500 comments. However, there will be one when it reaches 7000. After the 7000 comments freeze, a new part will be posted, and all prompting should happen on the new part.

Mrs. Hudson leave Baker Street? England [literally] falls

(Anonymous) 2015-09-13 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
Sherlock wasn't exaggerating - for some supernatural reason, Mrs. Hudson HAS to stay at Baker Street. (Presumably she can leave to get groceries or whatnot, but she still has to live there?) If she moves out, super-bad things will happen. Sherlock didn't just "happen" to want to live at 221B - he also wanted to be there to help protect her.

Yet I Will Bide 1/1

And ne'er did Grecian chisel trace
A Nymph, a Naiad, or a Grace,
Of finer form or lovelier face!
What though the sun, with ardent frown,
Had slightly tinged her cheek with brown,—
The sportive toil, which, short and light
Had dyed her glowing hue so bright,
Served too in hastier swell to show
Short glimpses of a breast of snow:
What though no rule of courtly grace
To measured mood had trained her pace,—
A foot more light, a step more true,
Ne'er from the heath-flower dashed the dew;
E'en the slight harebell raised its head,
Elastic from her airy tread:
What though upon her speech there hung
The accents of the mountain tongue,—-
Those silver sounds, so soft, so dear,
The listener held his breath to hear!

-Sir Walter Scott

At times she misses the people who came before. The tribes with their cycles of festival, of planting and harvest. She misses the young men and women who'd venture to her lake for luck or blessing. The shamans who'd come and drive themselves into a paroxysm of ecstasy on the shores, leaping over fires, beating drums and blowing horns, asking her for the gift of vision and enlightenment.

She'd carried many names, then and since--a few that even today, people remember, at least in part.

Arnemetia. Nimue. Vivienne. But more than that, far more. Even she can't remember all the names humankind has called her.

Of course, these days, few people call on her at all, and her lake has long since vanished below the surface. She finds she doesn't mind much, not really. She had been able to help humans more in those days--aid requires belief--but they had needed more help then, their lives haunted with the constant specter of death over them. Though at times, they are quite foolish, in their determination to forget their own mortality, and in how careless they can be about putting rubbish into the water.

Still, that forgetfulness was her safety, most of the time. It kept her safe, and London safe by extension, even if they didn't realize it. The last time she'd been forced to leave, it had been by some of Hitler's dreadful sorcerers snatching her away, and the blitz had happened.

She'd chosen to forget those years. She wasn't at all sure what had happened, but she was very sure it hadn't been anything good.

They'd all nearly come to grief a few years ago, once again, when a magician from America had captured her and attempted to use her to raise Atlantis. But that was when she met Him.

It was quite a shock, meeting Merlin once again; it had been centuries since she last encountered anyone she recognized. Not called Merlin in this incarnation, of course--it was 'Sherlock Holmes', of all improbable names. Though he always had been rather improbable. It had been even more of a shock to him, the poor dear, realizing that the vivid dreams he'd had as a child were actually real!

He didn't remember much from before, which was for the best. Humans didn't as a rule. Which also meant that he still hadn't realized why John Watson had entered his life, and why he trusted John instinctively.

She smiled tolerantly as the two of them charged down the stairs, bolting into the traffic and sound of a London afternoon, guarding the city as they'd always done.
