Established johnlock, where john is still off at war but nobody knows they are together or that john exists except mycroft until one day at a crime scene some military people show up to inform sherlock that his husband is dead, killed in combat. Maybe even as a plot twist, after showing sherlock's grief for a while, where lestrade slowly uncovers who this "john" is, we find out john isn't actually dead and sherlock is just like "aaaaaaaggggghhhh!!!!"
