Fair warning: Long prompt is really long. Don't let it scare you though, it's not very restricting.
Basic Idea/Summary: Everyone is either a Dom or a Sub. Not every Dom has a perfect Sub - in fact, most don't, and having a perfect match is generally a very very rare bloodline trait. Ever since John presented as a Sub at 15, he's never successfully been Dommed. He's tried with family, friends, and even specially trained Doms, but he's never affected by their Voice - almost as if he can't even hear it. Ever since Sherlock presented as a Dom at 13, he's never been able to successfully Dom a Sub. He's tried around individuals and groups, but it's as if his Voice simply doesn't work - or that his just can't be heard. When Mike Stamford introduces them, they think they know what they're getting into. They seem to be the perfect flatmates- neither can properly interact with the opposite Dynamic, and they'll neither be bothered by unsuccessful interactions with the other. They're about to find out they're wrong, and in doing so, they might just shake the whole of London...
So, basically, John has never been Dommed - at all. Not even basic orders like, "Make me tea," "Give me a hug," "Go sit down," even "Calm down." And more so, he's never been to subspace - and it's beginning to take its toll on him, physically and mentally.
Opt 1. When he realizes that Sherlock can Dom him, he asks Sherlock to put him under (subspace) because he's never been and it's starting to hurt him, that it doesn't have to be sexual, he just wants to go under for the first time. At first, Sherlock says he can't, before John, pleading, admits that Sherlock is the only Voice he's heard, and Sherlock realizes John can hear his Voice.
Opt 2. They're at a crime scene, and someone (Donovan? Anderson? New officer?) asks why Sherlock brings his Sub to crime scenes, gesturing to John. John is quick to say he can't be Dommed, Sherlock says he can't Dom, and Lestrade says Sherlock doesn't have a Sub. Everyone else is shocked, before explaining that John is most definitely reacting to Sherlock's orders, in a way that only Domming will make a Sub do. Sherlock and John reflect on that, before realizing whoever is right, and that, somehow, Sherlock IS able to Dom John.
Either way, Sherlock takes John down into subspace for the first time (safely at 221b and not necessarily sexual - preferably doesn't START that way at first, but can definitely GO that way after a bit) and while under, they realize that they're a perfect match.
Definitely Johnlock (duh.) Would prefer Sub!Mycroft/Dom!Lestrade in the background, but Dom!Mycroft/Sub!Anthea is also fine. Also, Sub!Moriarty/Dom!Moran, if they decide to show. Everyone else is writer's discretion.
Hope long prompt didn't scare too many people away!
