John's family has money, but he wants nothing to do with it and ran away to join the army.
Maybe he didn't like how his family treated Harry when she came out?

He and Sherlock go on a case and it all comes out: an unexpected dress sense, a public school accent he trained himself out of, annoying posh relations/old friends, etc.

Sherlock wonders if there's anything else John is keeping secret from him.

John has been kidnapped by someone or other (could be Moriarty) who is obsessed with his looks. Rapes/abuses him and says the words "Purple is such a pretty color on you" - this is his reason for beating him.

John is rescued after a week or so by either Lestrade, Mycroft or Sherlock (or all!) and much comforting ensues.

I'd prefer if some permanent damage occurs - either from the multiple rapes or something else that the madman does.

{Mycroft says 'dream big' - well, I'm dreaming big things of this prompt being filled!)

Knowing Sherlock feels lonely now that John's with Mary (Pre-wedding, Post-Wedding, whatever the author decides) everyone around him tries to match him up with new people. Lestrade, Molly, Mrs Hudson, Mike and even John and Mary get in the act of trying to introduce him to boyfriends and girlfriends (because they still don't know if there's a preference) and they just never work out. Sherlock first assumes it's about an assistant to replace John, that John doesn't want to spend anytime with him anymore before he realises what's really going on.

Bonus if one or two of them turn out to be criminals or mistaken for clients.

All I ask is for the fic to end in a happy note, cos right now all I keep reading are sad fics where Sherlock ends up lonely and sad and I really need him to end up happy and knowing he's loved whilst completely uninterested in sex.

Although he may not be gay, John has loved and been loved by a string of proud, brilliant men over the years. For some reason or another, each of them has left him behind, let him go, or never initiated anything; and each of them has regretted it ever since.

Maybe through cases or just by chance, these men briefly flit back into John's life and are, of course, observed by Sherlock. He notices the trend of longing looks, wistful reminiscing over their past relationship with John, jealous glances hurled in his direction. Above all of them, sings the bitter note of regret, regret, regret.

Sherlock finds the correlation to his relationship with John disturbing. He realizes that he doesn't want to be one of the idiots who let John Watson go because they were too proud or too scared to be with him.

*bonus* I would be thrilled if Sholto is one of John's men.

Sherlock announces to fem!John (john/joan/whichever name you like) that she's knocked up. John is a bit confused and rather disbelieving - there are no signs of it. Yet Sherlock is very very sure and says he can smell it on her (and when she does try a test, he is right).

bonuses:
- unintentional pregnancy but they decide keep it (although I'm not too bothered if you don't want to write the whole pregnancy and birth and end at the nice fluffy decision) - whether this is established relationship/drunken mistake/one-off in a platonic-commitment or asexual relationship is entirely up to you
- John flashes back to some case where Sherlock had deduced the victim/murderer was pregnant and that lead to the case being solved - but nobody was sure how he'd known. Well, now John knows how.
- dropping of johns tea or bystanders tea/coffee/some beverage is involved
- Sherlock is either very tactful and has obviously brooded on it before telling her quietly, or just suddenly realises and blurts it out in a rather inappropriate situation before his brain-mouth filter can kick in

A/B/O Dubcon Johnlock Medical kink

Sherlock is an omega but, like almost 5% of adult omega population, he never presented (and he is happy about this, cause "the body is transport, etc").
Months (or years) after the start of the cohabitation with alpha!John he unexpectedly present and the fact that he is smitten with John may not be a coincidence ;-). Late presentations are rare but often messy and painful, cause many body reactions are out of sync, for example severe internal cramping cause the heat is already started but the body still cannot produce the slick and the "anal" vaginal canal is clamped close cause there still isn't the necessary hormonal balance etc.
Cue for John to take care of Sherlock.

+Bonus points for a very patronizing Darkish/Grey!John whom notice the symptoms very early on but do not inform Sherlock, cause he fear he might do something stupid and unsafe to avoid it. Maybe he could still alert Mycroft so he could sets things up for when Sherlock will present and they'll need a place with the right medical tools, cause there is no way that John (and Sherlock too) will let a stranger to aid a surely afraid Sherlock trough it's difficult first heat.

++Double bonus point if John use his alpha voice to "persuade" a pretty shy and scared Sherlock whom do not want to disrobe and let John examine him and insert a suppository who will help to ease the cramping in a couple of hours (by stimulate hormonally the production of slick and the relaxing of the vaginal canal. But this he do not tell to Sherlock).

+Heat doesn't transforms alpha and omega in mindless sexual beasts (although it try). I do not mind if at the end they mate or it remains pretty (sexually) medical till the end.

+Do your best/worst, please!

Can we please see Sherlock deeply in love with John, but so awkward, nervous and inexperienced about it, he pretty much fucks up every possible opportunity of being with John, ever. It goes as far as to very nearly losing John as a friend, too.

Maybe he gets so quiet, miserable and withdrawn when he realises that he has no chances at all that John decides to investigate, and, since he's so much better with emotions he learns what's going on.

Happy johnlock is not required, but it would be great.

I forgot to ask to please avoid a pregnancy at the end, if you choose to make them mate. John know that Sherlock doesn't want it and respect his wish (at least in this kind of choice).

Hope this promp will strike the muse of some writer. If someone'll write this I'll give them my eternal gratitude and my next toast.

I am sick to death of gushing descriptions of ebon curls and razor-sharp cheekbones, ivory skin against purple cloth and a voice like melted [insert confection of choice]. Though I think it's poignant, I'm even sick of lingering accounts of the faults and flaws in Mycroft's appearance. I love the "graceful" and the "regal" but all the asides to Sherlock's acknowledged superior beauty are driving me insane!

Give me something where Mycroft is universally agreed to be the seriously and unambiguously hotter of the Holmes siblings.

Mycroft seen naked, for some reason? Anthea giving her asked-for opinion on his newest suit by licking her fingertip, touching it to his arm, and going "sssssssst!"? Being covertly observed--inasmuch as such a thing is possible when watching a man like Mycroft--by chatty admirers? Lestrade sighing into his pint over the loveliness of the elder Holmes and gradually bringing John around to see his point?

(As you can probably tell I am mostly in the Mystrade camp and would love to see this idea through that lens.)

Once more Sherlock does something a little over the top, as if The Fall wasn't enough. John has had enough. He calls Sherlock "freak" and leaves him behind to sink alone, and never comes back.

Tons of angst and heartbreak, please.

John was abused as a child (alcoholic father/extremely protective of Harry) and at one stage his leg was badly injured. Doctors at the time were concerned he wouldn't be able to walk again without a limp even after multiple surgeries, but he managed to. He just limps from time to time.

Fast track to present day:

Because the injury is so old, Sherlock doesn't recognise the fact that it's not psychosomatic (though recognises that John was abused as a child). One day when John's leg is bad and prevents him from helping out on a case - maybe the murderer/whatever gets past him? Sherlock, caught up in the moment, gets mad and blames John.

John internalises this and worries over it for weeks - far longer than Sherlock is annoyed with him.

Eventual reconciliation please with comfort for John.

If any relationships occur then bottom!John only please.

and I can just imagine the broody anxious-ness would cause John to have to hide the stress-flared limp round Baker street too.

John meets his army friend. It's a young, pretty man, who absolutely adores his captain and sometimes flirts with him (maybe John saved him in the past, so there's also a hero worship thing). While John is not gay, there are exceptions, so he doesn't mind this sweet young man's attention.

Sherlock is very jealous. He tries using the same tactics he uses to shoo John's girlfriends away, but it doesn't work this time. And if John finally decides to ask the young man on a date, Sherlock is absolutely distraught.

When John learns how much Sherlock (who - surprise! - has got feelings for him) is hurt, he comforts him and maybe chooses him.

Sherlock comes back after the fall, only to discover that John has died.

Any or all of the following:

+ Mycroft didn't tell him because he didn't want Sherlock distracted
+ John's death was totally normal - he wasn't being a badass, he was just in an accident or something
+ everyone else (Lestrade/Molly/Mrs. Hudson/etc.) has more or less moved on because it's been a while. They're sympathetic and it's still sad, but they're not grieving anymore.
+ Sherlock's relationship with Mycroft tanks terribly because Sherlock feels Mycroft was totally heartless in not telling him immediately (even if it would have compromised the destruction of Mycroft's web)

Character A, after a stressful couple of days, is struggling not to slip into little headspace. As soon as they arrive home they shut themselves into their room, and does what they do to relax (watches cartoons, plays with toys, what ever). Character B barges in on character A, who struggles to explain what they were doing.

OMG! Please, someone write this!

You know those stories with BAMF John where he contacts all his old army friends to help take down Moriarty, and they all have these stories about how awesome he is and how he saved them and they saved him? I enjoy those, but they always seem to have a sort of angsty feel when it comes to Sherlock. It took me a while to work out what bothered me, and ultimately it was that they had an equal claim on John as Sherlock did (or even worse, a greater claim), which is normal and healthy and yet, somehow, sad. Ultimately, I don't enjoy the disconnect between the two halves of John's life.

So, why not a story that connects the two halves of John's life? John's former army buddies show up or are called on or whatever and Sherlock isn't facing a group of rivals...he's meeting a group of Johns. (yes I realize how that sounds. You know what I mean.)

John's friends think Sherlock's brilliant. So maybe they have memories with John that Sherlock doesn't share...Sherlock also has memories they don't share. And if it's slash, and they decide to give Sherlock the Talk, they also give it to John. Because Sherlock is awesome too.

Bonus: Sherlock's friends (i.e. people who like Sherlock and he seems to like in return whatever he calls them) and John's friends meeting each other.

Very young Sherlock gets kidnapped. Maybe one day he just doesn't come back from school. His rich family uses every opportunity and service to find him, to no avail. All they learn is that he was kidnapped by human traffickers.

Meanwhile, teen Mycroft observes the work of the police, detectives, Interpol and other services, and comes to a conclusion that they are just not enough. They never have enough power to do one thing or another, there's always red tape, they need permissions, warrants and such. He's always been ambitious and wanted to become powerful, for which he has skills and is getting a superb education. It's just... now he has to get this power sooner, for Sherlock. He doesn't even know if Sherlock is alive, but he's going to find him, dead or alive, anyway.

So, eventually, when he's adult, he becomes The British Government. With his now barely limited power, one day he finds Sherlock (in Thailand, Turkey, anywhere, really), who's a cheap, junkie prostitute, barely alive already. Sherlock can barely think now, and maybe he doesn't even remember he's ever had any other life, or isn't sure that what he remembers sometimes is real at all. Mycroft takes the broken teen home. Some revenge would be nice, too.

After quite some time in rehab and mental facilities Sherlock slowly becomes what he is. But he suffers from severe PTSD and keeps having attacks even years later. He knows it won't go. Maybe he gets back on drugs a few times, too.

In his mid-thirties he meets John. Eventually, John learns about his past and is very supportive and protective of him. He helps with the attacks and the two become very close (I prefer a platonic relationship between them with some physical closeness, such as kissing and cuddling).

Mycroft is actually glad John is there for Sherlock, because he, Mycroft, can't really give Sherlock this kind of comfort and his help is much more practical.

Sherlock and Mycroft do have their issues, but Sherlock loves Mycroft and is grateful for everything, and Mycroft knows it.

After Sherlock's return he and John get into a big argument. John is very angry and is yelling and crowding Sherlock. At some point John comes to that revelation where he just wants to kiss the living daylights out of Sherlock, so he does. Unfortunately all the yelling just started sending Sherlock into a flashback/panic attack.
Happy endings, though sexytimes not required.
