THE MEME NEEDS ARCHIVISTS!

GUIDELINES

• Anon posting is not required, but most definitely allowed. If you think you recognise an anon, keep it to yourself and don’t out them. IP tracking is off, and will remain that way.


• Multiple fills are encouraged, and all kinds of fills are accepted! Fic, art, vids, cosplay, interpretive dance — whatever. Go wild! :D


• Don’t reprompt until TWO parts after the last posting of the prompt.


• RPF (real person fic, i.e. fic involving the actors themselves) is not supported at this meme.


• Concrit is welcome, but kinkshaming, hijacking, and flaming are not tolerated.

When you fill a prompt, please use the appropriate Filled Prompts Post to archive your fill (there are instructions on the actual post).

If the part you wanted isn't up yet, just wait and one of the archivists will get to it, but please, once it is up, make sure you post your fills there according to the guidelines. DO NOT skip out on doing this because it seems like too much effort. If you want your fill to make it to the Delicious archive, that’s the way to do it.

Do not be afraid to ask questions about how it works if you are confused! The mods will be happy to explain.

WARNINGS/OFFENSIVE WORDING IN PROMPTS
Please consider warning for prompts that may trigger people (and also for fills, because some people read in flat view) and phrasing prompts in a manner that strives to be respectful.

Things which you might want to consider warning for include: Rape/Non-Con, Death, Suicidal Thoughts, Self-Harm, Underage Relationships, among others.

That being said, this is a kink meme. As such, there will be prompts that could offend you in a number of different ways. Not every prompt will have a trigger warning, and not every prompt will rub you the right way. If you have an issue with a specific prompt, feel free to bring it up in a discussion that takes place off the meme. However, flaming will not be tolerated regardless of origin.

You are highly encouraged to scroll past any prompt that you dislike.

THINGS THAT MAKE BROWSING THE MEME EASIER FOR EVERYONE
Please nest your fills. Doing so will make it easier for archivists to save your fills to the Delicious archive. Using subject lines will also help people reading the meme in flatview keep track of what’s happening. Finally, titling your fills (even if it’s something silly) will be helpful to those tracking a lot of prompts or scrolling through the meme.

PROMPT FREEZES
Depending on the rate of activity, there may or may not be a prompt freeze when a part reaches 2000 and 4500 comments. However, there will be one when it reaches 7000. After the 7000 comments freeze, a new part will be posted, and all prompting should happen on the new part.

John paced the living room in 221B.
He had been running his hands through his hair almost constantly since last night, and he was starting to find loose strands caught between his fingers.
Sherlock lay on his back on the couch, fingers steepled under his nose as he stared at the ceiling.

“Bloody hell,” John murmured, pacing to the kitchen and back, pausing for a second to peer over the couch at Sherlock and glance at the bedroom door. “Bloody, bloody hell.”

His life felt like it was constricting around him again, making it hard to think, hard to breathe.
His affair had been discovered by his wife, who was now lying in Sherlock’s room with a bullet hole in her shoulder because she’d taken up playing assassin again or something, and he was sure that he was going to fret himself to death before the evening was out.

“What am I going to do? What the HELL am I going to do…?”

“Stop panicking, for a start. You’re not helping anyone by letting your emotions control you. We need to talk to Mary and find out who shot her, and then you and I will get them locked away for as long a time as the law will allow.”

“Yeah? And what if they say something before we find them? What if they blackmail her with it? It’ll be Magnussen all over again…”

They both froze as a soft noise of pain came from the bedroom, staring at the door and listening closely in case Mary called. After a few seconds of silence, John took a shuddering breath.
He stalked across the room and fell into his chair with a groan.

“Why does this always happen to me?” John asked quietly. “I get so happy and then…everything just… fucks up.”

Sherlock glanced to the side, staring at John for a moment before rolling to his feet and walking over to him. The detective stood at the side of the chair, hands rubbing circles on John’s shoulders.

“It’s not your fault,” the detective started, “People like Mary and I…manage to get ourselves into trouble. Quite often. And there’s nothing you can do about that sometimes. Don’t feel responsible.”

John placed a hand over Sherlock’s, looking up at him.

“Even if I know it’s not my fault, I hate seeing either of you in that kind of position. If you two get hurt or get into trouble…that hurts me, because I care about you.” John let out a soft chuckle, tightening his grip on Sherlock’s fingers. “I just wish the two of you would get it through your thick heads that I care about you.”

“I know that, John. We both do. And we worry about you as well,” Sherlock said, sparing a glance at the bedroom door. “Mary and I worry about each other, for heaven’s sake. Isn’t that what people do when they love one another? Worry about them?”

“Sherlock…you can be pretty smart sometimes, for someone who’s so socially inept.” John murmured, leaning his head against Sherlock’s wrist, feeling the detective’s pulse rushing hot against his temple.

“Is she…doing okay?” Sherlock asked tentatively after a second.
John let out a sigh, closing his eyes.

“As far as I can tell. She’s tough, a lot tougher than I would have ever pegged her for, but still…”

Sherlock leaned over the chair and nuzzled his face into John’s hair.

“We’ll take care of her. Don’t worry. She’s going to be fine.”

“I sure hope so, Sherlock. I can’t lose either of you ever again…”
