THE MEME NEEDS ARCHIVISTS!

GUIDELINES

Anon posting is not required, but most definitely allowed. If you think you recognise an anon, keep it to yourself and don’t out them. IP tracking is off, and will remain that way.

Multiple fills are encouraged, and all kinds of fills are accepted! Fic, art, vids, cosplay, interpretive dance — whatever. Go wild! :D

Don’t reprompt until TWO parts after the last posting of the prompt.

RPF (real person fic, i.e. fic involving the actors themselves) is not supported at this meme.

Concrit is welcome, but kinkshaming, hijacking, and flaming are not tolerated.

If the part you wanted isn't up yet, just wait and one of the archivists will get to it, but please, once it is up, make sure you post your fills there according to the guidelines. DO NOT skip out on doing this because it seems like too much effort. If you want your fill to make it to the Delicious archive, that’s the way to do it.

Do not be afraid to ask questions about how it works if you are confused! The mods will be happy to explain.

WARNINGS/OFFENSIVE WORDING IN PROMPTS
Please consider warning for prompts that may trigger people (and also for fills, because some people read in flat view) and phrasing prompts in a manner that strives to be respectful.

Things which you might want to consider warning for include: Rape/Non-Con, Death, Suicidal Thoughts, Self-Harm, Underage Relationships, among others.

That being said, this is a kink meme. As such, there will be prompts that could offend you in a number of different ways. Not every prompt will have a trigger warning, and not every prompt will rub you the right way. If you have an issue with a specific prompt, feel free to bring it up in a discussion that takes place off the meme. However, flaming will not be tolerated regardless of origin.

THINGS THAT MAKE BROWSING THE MEME EASIER FOR EVERYONE
Please nest your fills. Doing so will make it easier for archivists to save your fills to the Delicious archive. Using subject lines will also help people reading the meme in flatview keep track of what’s happening. Finally, titling your fills (even if it’s something silly) will be helpful to those tracking a lot of prompts or scrolling through the meme.

PROMPT FREEZES
Depending on the rate of activity, there may or may not be a prompt freeze when a part reaches 2000 and 4500 comments. However, there will be one when it reaches 7000. After the 7000 comments freeze, a new part will be posted, and all prompting should happen on the new part.

(I saw Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince again today and this bit made me want to prompt. Please forgive me that it's a little long and rambly. It's late and I'm unwell. I had to look the quote up as well so sorry if it's a little wrong.)

"The student who gave me Francis... A spring afternoon I discovered a bowl on my desk, just a few inches of clear water in it. Floating on the surface was a flower petal... as I watched, it sank... just before it reached the bottom, it was transformed, into a wee fish. It was beautiful magic, wondrous to behold. The flower petal had come from a lily... your mother. The day I came downstairs, the day the bowl was empty, was the day your mother..."

Mycroft (a muggle that liaises with the Minister of Magic) comes into his office one morning to find a fish-bowl on his desk. The magic happens as described. It turns out it was a gift from Sherlock while he was at Hogwarts. He thought his brother could do with a friend... and maybe rub it in that he was a wizard and Mycroft wasn't.

Many years down the line, Reichenbach happens more or less as BBC canon states and it looks like Sherlock is really dead.

The fish in the bowl doesn't disappear. (Mycroft is aware that after death, the individual's magic ceases to exist except in a few notable cases...)

This is the only sign Mycroft gets that Sherlock is still alive and out there.

What does Mycroft do next?

1000 points to your Hogwarts house if you can make a story out of this not so great prompt. An extra 150 points if you make Sherlock a Hufflepuff (he is rather loyal and unafraid of toil after all, even though he seems far from patient) because I don't think I've ever came across a fic where he's in that house yet. :)

OH MY GOODNESS

AND HUFFLEPUFF!SHERLOCK YES I WANT THIS SO BADLY

I especially like the thought of Hufflepuff!Sherlock, because he really doesn't fit into one clear house. He's got the cunning, resourcefulness, and disregard for rules of a Slytherin, he's go the wit and intelligence and love of knowledge of a Ravenclaw, and the bravery and daring of a Gryffindor. I think that the Sorting Hat would have a field day with him.

Hufflepuff is the house of students who don't fit anywhere else, and Sherlock really doesn't fit anywhere else. Not only that, but he does have some of the common Hufflepuff traits.

Me gusta.

I want this so much and now have a new headcanon thanks to you!

As a Hufflepuff myself (on Pottermore at least) I always feel so... disappointed that Hufflepuffs seem to be the Anderson of the Harry Potter fandom, the butt of everyone's jokes when they're all equally awesome in their own ways.

(And just to clarify Anderson may be a bit of a bully to Sherlock but you can't blame him from getting pissed off that some random keeps wandering into his crime scene, ignoring proper procedure, contaminating evidence and to top it all off, bringing a little friend in. But he still shouldn't be a bit of a dick. Sorry... Couldn't help myself.)

The reason people are put in Hufflepuff is because they have so many qualities that they don't have one trait that points towards one of the other houses. And people tend to forget that the goblet of fire deemed a Hufflepuff worthy to be Hogwart's champion before Harry. And by all accounts Hufflepuff was one of the only houses to join the battle of Hogwarts without a real cause other than wanting to protect their school.

Sorry... Harry Potter was my main fandom before Sherlock so I get a little passionate.

Seriously, even if I don't get a fill out of this, it's cool to know I've encouraged someone's new headcanon. =D
