- a case (ex. the latest serial killer is leaving notes for his next victim but has references to Doctor Who so Sherlock has to watch doctor who to "get" them) - an experiment/ to prove a point (ex. Sherlock and John are having this debate on the favorite doctors, classic vs. reboot, etc.) - out of force (I'm out of ideas so let your imaginations run havoc) - sheer pure will (aka no reason at all) - etc.
*take your pick, you can write one or all. RTYIs are welcome too. :D*
PS: Bonus points from me if you'll add a scene (epilogue or the whole overarching story, doesn't matter) where Sherlock agrees to watch Doctor Who with John on ONE CONDITION : he gets to choose the episode. Argh, if you'd put the dialogue somewhere along these lines:
Sherlock: *hits the play button, opening credits play* John: So David Tennant eh? Why this, of all episodes? I wonder why... Sherlock: *shrugs though tries hard not to smirk* *after five-ten minutes* John: Oh.
