Anderson appears to be guilty of a string of gruesome murders, and there is evidence to back that up. Sherlock knows he's not the murderer, but when he tries to prove it he keeps finding more evidence that points toward Anderson's guilt. Some people at the Yard are convinced Sherlock is planting evidence to make Anderson look more guilty and did the murdering himself.
