I do want the violin to be gendered, but how it is gendered doesn't matter to me. (Violins are usually gendered female, but I can see it either way.) I would prefer the relationship be reciprocated in Sherlock's mind.
As for sexual . . . definitely not a requirement, but if you want to make it that way, go ahead. I definitely want the romantic to be the focus, but sexual is great too. =)
