Sometimes, little brothers have to stand up for their older siblings.
Sherlock has known that he was gay since he was a teenager, is out of the closet, and is in a very committed, healthy relationship with John. Mummy Holmes doesn't like it - but as long as they refrain from snogging in front of her, she can tolerate it. Besides, there is always Mycroft, right?
Wrong.
Mycroft is also gay, and in a very healthy/loving relationship with Lestrade. Unlike Sherlock, though, he hasn't told their mother. He knows how badly she wants him to give her grandchildren and how intensely homophobic she is, and he just can't do it.
Somehow, though, she finds out. And totally rips into Mycroft about how much of a disappointment he is and how he isn't her son anymore, etc.
Sherlock, in no uncertain terms, proceeds to tell her that homophobia is not a fear, it is a belief held by close-minded people like herself who cannot accept others happiness because somehow, how they live their life directly effects how they live their own.
