Rant Post

Previous (Full) Rant Post

No real directions, but this isn't a place for debate. It's a place for RANTIN' AND RAVIN'.

There is a rule: There is to be no calling out anyone by name in Rants, Chatter, or on the Meme itself. This only produces an atmosphere of animosity and it is no longer tolerated. If you see any names being ranted about, please link us at Page-A-Mod. Thanks! :)

Please do not use this post or any other posts in the meme for sharing of download or streaming of links that aren't the official source of the content.

The number of comments for my fill have gone down and down with each chapter. And I'm so needy and pathetic that I can't help but check in case there are any new ones every five minutes when I really need to be studying right now >:C

Mycroft says your's. People aren't commenting because of the bad grammar?

Personally I find it a bit difficult to find the time to read every fill I want to: I don't have a paid account so I can only track entire prompt posts, which leads to my inbox having about 400/500+ messages each day. I try not to let them pile up and get through them as quick as I can, bookmarking what I want to read, but there's so much (especially since s2 started) that I usually get through mini fills and already completed fills first and leave WIPs for later.

So, idk about most people but for me I can say that maybe I have bookmarked your fill and it's just waiting there to be read :) Comments will come! :)

Stil, don't despair: it's usually pretty normal for a WIP to have more comments at the beginning, then losing a few/a lot throughout the central part of the story and then gaining them all back with the second to last/last part. Keep going, people are reading, most fics regain their commenters by the end :)

It's been said before, it'll be said again: peoples do NOT keep commenting on WIPs. For one thing, it's incredibly tedious to keep saying the same thing. It usually has nothing to do with the quality of the fic.

If it does have to do with the fic, it may be because the plot isn't advanced enough in a given piece to make any difference to people, or because it's so long between pieces that people give up, or because it's so long between pieces that people decide to wait for the next bit, or because the writer blew their whole wad on the first couple of chapters and hasn't shown any sign of having really thought the story out beyond that. Or any number of other things.

You really should focus on your homework, or on making some *other* writer feel appreciated.

On the busier memes I follow, people generally comment less on middle chapters to cut down on clutter in the inboxes of those who are tracking. There's a flurry of comments at the beginning to let the author know there's an audience, then it slows to a trickle until the the end, usually. There are super popular fics that get a boatload of comments every time the author updates, but they are very few and far between (and aren't always an indicator of good writing, that's for certain.)
