Actually, you're wrong about almost everything in this comment. Region free players are legal in the EU, and the EU even looked into whether region coding was illegal under EU conventions. They certain did not require it or enforce coding via law. Region coding exists because of corporate licensing agreements and corporate protectionism, not law, and region free players are and always have been legal hardware. I can't even find a record of this supposed place where corporate trade agreement region coding has been codified into national law.

You're also entirely missing the point that the comment was made by an American, and the response was directed at that American. And SOPA and PIPA have absolutely nothing to do with this.
